When you have news you can’t wait to share, but it’s not quite “official” yet, do you spill the beans anyway or wait until it’s all signed, sealed and delivered?

Many of my writer friends will say, “I’m sitting on some news” or “good news coming.” For an impulsive person who tends to blurt out things (hubby and I stopped trying to surprise each other a long time ago - neither of us can keep a secret for long), I often keep my cards pretty close to the vest. I don’t even hint that I have news to share.

So, I thought I’d give this a try. Hey, it seems to work for others, so why not me? I should have known then - that things that work for others don’t usually work for me. So, I posted my “sitting on some news” status on Facebook and at first nothing. Then a couple of thoughtful people stopped by to “like” it or comment on it. Whew! You know how it is sometimes. You write a status and nobody says a thing. Not that everybody’s just sitting there waiting for me to post something - lol!

I got the news right before I went to bed, and my head was up all night, thinking about it. So, I had to say something, but instead of feeling better, I felt like a tease. Or that I had set gigantic expectations. I might not do that again. I might just wait until it’s “official.”

But that’s okay. I think there’s a quote that goes something like this, “All of life is an experiment.”
