As you all know Ive been sick since I returned from my cruise to the Yucatan.  Well it seems when I went to get my pedicure upon return a week ago, my foot was sore, on the very back of my heel on a Callus of dead skin, where you cant really see unless you do contortions and on a spot that has a thick dead skin area so I would feel nothing.  I figured she was too rough but this weekend I finally looked at the back of my heel as it was getting worse and I found two fang marks about a .5 inch apart and they were swollen with something inside each hole, so I got my cuticle kit and extracted the foriegn matter which had crystalized I got it all out and when it touched my finger it went numb, so I washed really well and soaked my foot and put neosporin and I started to feel weird and last night had hallucinations that my cat ran away and jumped out of bed raised my arms saying wheres Wookie, where is Wookie, I had vertigo and fell back asleep and have been very sleeply each night since I returned from my trip and even drowsy.. unusually.  Today I feel like Ive been drugged and my doctor said that it did appear to be a snake bite of some sort but I was lucky as it did not penetrate to my bloodstream and was dried in my dead skin tissue and even that was infected, so she upgraded my antibiotic and told me if my muscle in my leg pain gets worse and I get swollen lymph nodes in my leg to call immediately.

So I left my wallet at home, Ive been dizzy, I forgot to lock my car doors and have been totally out of sorts.  Im either falling asleep at the drop of a hat or up feeling light headed, I have a strange taste in my mouth and I think I was snake bitten in the mayan temple of the snake.  I was reading all viper snake bites are venomous and deadly so ... Im really freaked about this.

Forgive any delayed blogs and forgive any slow scrabble moves for those that play scrabble with me on facebook.

My mother said that I was protected by my Cherokee side.  And the Mayan did tell me before I entered the temple that my Eye color Green was what the mayans worshiped and the snake God would be pleased.

Next time.. Boots..... to my thighs.

From what Ive read Its a miracle the fangs hit dead skin and did not reach my bloodstream and it crystalized with out being toxic.  My doctor said Hot water soaks will detoxify poisons so what I did was the right thing.

    • I was so worried and I am glad you are ok for now.  That looked like a nasty bite.  Ouch.  Are you with someone tonight?  Just in case.  I think someone should stay with you.  Were you able to search on the net on snake bites?  If not, would you like me to?  How awake are you???

    • Thanks, Chinadoll, my son is with me and my mother and oldest daughter live nearby.  I havent even wanted to see or know what kind of nasty snake bit me as Id probably throw up or freak out.  But Ill look after I get better.

Ive been dizzy some vertigo, and I feel like Ive been drugged is the best explaination of how I feel. I have a chemical taste in my mouth and Im thirsty and dry feeling.  I have some right leg muscle pain and Ive been soaking the area.  The doctor said, that the bite didnt go deep enough to hit live tissue or my blood stream and we both think its a snake based on the puncture marks and spacing.  It was in dead tissue on my foot, Im sooo glad I didnt shave that area, I usually do before a pedicure or an event but I was too busy so I had a hard callus where I was bitten, If the bite hit a half inch above it would have hit live soft tissue.

I dont know what protected me, Grace Of God is what I call it and Im just soooo lucky.  Im a bit better today but a bit out of it and I have so much to do businesswise these next few months, I feel like Im not accomplishing anything.

Annie, did I win at scrabble, I was making my moves in a blurr for the most part ?  Joyfull thanks Greeneyed Luck !

    • Thanks ladies.. I am soft all over my body and my feet too thats the only spot with a callus and usually I shave it down its because I walk everywhere and go barefoot in the house.. I was in a hurry for the cruise and I didnt shave it down and thank goodness it was thick enough to keep bite off my living tissue.  Im sooo glad I found it.  It was a Lucky strike and Im alive and its going to be a heck of a year ahead !!!  Linni yep we have had a month !!!

    • What everyone should know is this is more common than we would all think.  I just read this below and my scenario is exactly what happened... OMG !!!

In Mexico, between 500-700 bites are reported annually. Mortality rates are low (less than 1%), as not all snakes are venomous or are unable to inject their venom, and because accurate treatment is administered in a timely manner. Since most snakes strike when a person has accidentally stepped on them, 72% of snakebites occur on the feet and ankles and 14% on the calves. It is therefore advisable, when hiking in a high-risk region, to wear thick-soled, high boots covering this area of your body.

The bite of the snake is usually painless and, but for the fang marks, could go unnoticed. Bruising, bleeding, and local swelling are more evident indications. After one hour, possible symptoms include headache, irritability, light sensitivity, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, confusion, and coagulation abnormalities. If left unattended, limb and respiratory muscle paralysis, respiratory failure, peripheral circulatory failure and eventually death could occur within 8 to 72 hours.

    • Update on my Snakebite.. I have one fang hole now in my foot that dosent seem to want to heal and bleeds alot.  The other one healed I think the venom destroys the tissue.  But it stopped throbbing and I its not infected so It may just heal.  That was sooooo horrible and I hate snakes.  No offense to snake lovers out there.. I just find them ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
