Christmas is hardly the happiest time of year when you‘re middle-aged, single and live alone!  Don’t have much family and we‘re pretty scattered about.  So now that I’m getting over the inevitable seasonal depression, I reminded myself of the little rule I should have posted all over the place to begin with.  Have something to look forward to besides work.

So... Norwegian fjord cruise.  Expensive, might not be able to do it this year but still...

A friend who used to live in Sweden advises that early September is the best time because it will still be warm, and light in the evenings but I’ll get the Northern Lights after dark.  I asked about Spring (thinking 2011) but he delivered a small lecture about the tilting of the world’s axis and explained that I wouldn’t be able to see the fjords through the cold sleet and snow.
