Love it

By now you all know I love to eat “clean“-not big on empty calorie eats.  Having to little guys around to feed brought me back to my day care/pre-school years and I have been doing foods that both nourish and have a fun element to them.

Thankfully, our daughter-in-law is a wonderful woman who helped the week go a lot easier that it would have without her patience and assistance.

That said, Friday we both were exhausted and knew that we both had both a fun and horrendous Saturday to look forward too.  Sam had a family wedding to go to-a mere 4-1/2 hour drive, one way.  I had to take the boys “on assignment” with me.  We decided to go with the “what’s so bad about hamburger and fries?” version for dinner.

We took them swimming in her pool, got them bathed and then with a coupon in hand, went to a mom-and-pop burger place.
It also had a nice large patio to enjoy on that particular very warm summer night.

We ordered the boys the traditional kids meal of cheeseburgers and fries and they came with drinks.  It was either the swimming and bath or they were growing, but the boys ate down every morsel!

Sam had a turkey “aloha” burger.  It was marinated in teriyaki and topped with a grilled slice of pineapple.  I went with a veggie burger that was topped with avocado, grilled mushrooms and onions in a burgundy sauce.  Both of ours came on a 9 grain bun.  We broke the “healthy” mode and split a side a fries.

The boys made a game of pointing out all the cars that looked just like my PT Cruiser.  For Aidan, we tried to get him to tell us the color as well.

We all enjoyed people and car watching, the food and the company.  We ended the night with watching Alpha and Omega and then it was back to our house and I read a couple of chapters of the latest Junie B. Jones book to the boys.

With all our stomachs full and our bodies exhausted, we all went right to sleep.
