To commemorate the 234th Anniversary of United States Independence and to observe the return of Naval Station Ingleside to the Port of Corpus Christi, the  tall ship regatta will be sailing in for five days of exciting events and activities.

The celebration began February 2010 as the ships left Rio de Janeiro and made their way, navigating a total of sixteen visits, making Ingleside, Texas the seventeenth stop in this historic celebration. Ingleside has the distinct honor of being the only scheduled stop in the United States in 2010.

The four visiting ships are named The USCG Eagle, United States, The Esmeralda hailing from Chile, The Cuauhtemoc from Mexico, and The Capitan Miranda from Uruguay. These ships are breathtakingly beautiful and should be considered a must-see during the short time they will be in port.  There will be ship tours, fantastic ethnic foods, world music, and educational exhibits.

The ships route began in Velas Sudamerica Rio de Janerio, leaving February 7th and will be making their way to our Port city by July 1st. Be sure you make plans to attend this historic event. For more information and to track the ships route go to “Sail South Texas [Link Removed]
