I have decided to go into the home staging business after teaching for some 20 plus years.  With trepidation but a fierce dream, I am a true believer that it’s never too late for anything.

But it doesn’t seem that other people hold my belief.  I have gotten all kinds of negatives such has how are you changing careers at this late in the game, do you know what you are doing? or looking at me suspect as if I don’t have enough common sense to realize I have to eat and live as well.

These comments have not deterred my determination because I am loving my new career choice and all that it involves.  I would like to know if any of you ladies are having a second life as I call it and are having people dash your dreams.  Write me back and let me know.

    • What is home staging?  There will always be a naysayer and I’ve come to realize that a majority of the people dashing your dreams have not tried what your trying, won’t ever do what you‘re doing and would rather whine about their miserable life than make a change.

    • Knowing and doing what you want are the best thing in life.  Let there be no fear and as of those who trash your idea, confidently said to them “Thank you for your concern but I have great believe in myself.  I have a dream, I have a vision.  I want it to come true and not bury that with me 6’ under the ground.  Are you with me?” Hopefully, they will see the positive vibe and your confidence and change from negative to be supportive.

Proud of your decision!  Way to go girl.

    • Home staging has always appeared to me as one of the most fun of all professions. Real Estate professionals, especially in this tough market, will rely on you to provide the little touches that will help a home buyer make that all important decision. What home stagers do is appeal to the emotional side of the home buyer - and that’s a very important role. I applaud you for this decision!

I’ve dealt with nay sayers my entire life. It’s exhausting and I understand how much it can affect us as we‘re forging ahead in our lives. They‘re the ones who throw cold water on our ideas, toss a monkey wrench into the mix, cause us to second guess ourselves. What we really need at times like this are people who will support and encourage our endeavors.

      I wish you well.

    • Renee, I think that it it awesome what you are doing. I am considering changing careers as well, but I do not know what I want to be when I grow up and stop being an ICU nurse! One of my friends once told me that whenever we drastically change something about ourselves, we are just become more of our true self. Good luck with your new adventure! If you are ever in the Wisconsin area, feel free to stage my house!

    • Does a Home Stager do the same as a Buyers Agent? I know I read about Buyers Agents, and if I were EVER fortunate enough to actually BUY a HOME of MY OWN...I would rather go to a Buyers Agent.

    • Thank you guys for your support and inspiration.  I have not been here in a long time but my thoughts were always with you.  I have finished the Home Staging course but then I decided to do full blown Interior Design....never stopping...but here I am still trying to piece it all together but enjoying the process.  I promise I will make an attempt to be more present.  You are such a great group of women.
