There was a new development...we learned that the driver in the other car did not stop, she proceeded to go home. I know she was young and scared and needed her parent’s guidance, but did not wait to see if our son was alive or not. Apparently, this is under investigation since the only one that was there was our son and he tried to explain what happened while speaking with 911 and trying to get himself out of the truck. The girl and her passenger did suffer minor cuts, but did not need hospital attention.
God gave Steve another chance and maybe he will find a way to help others be safe on the road, this might be his calling, through social work or becoming a police officer, time will tell.

I am sure the young lady who was responsible is suffering as well. She did not make a good decision by leaving the scene. Hopefully everyone involved as learned a valuable lesson.

Mary I’m so very happy you son will mend and be alright. Your family has really been through it this past few months!
As for the other driver - scared or not, hit and run is never the right choice. When I was young, my parents actually taught me that if I ever had an accident I was to either stay and wait for the police or, if I hit a car that was parked with no one in it I was to leave a note on the windshield with my contact information. I know it sounds harsh but in my view her parental guidance was lacking from the get go.
I agree with Cynthia. She should not have left the scene and instead should have checked that Steve was okay. While I am all about forgiveness, this is very serious and there should be some consequences to her leaving. Please know you are ALL in my prayers.

Oh Mary, I am still sending prayers to your family. Yes, I think that everyone involved will have learned a valuable lesson and you‘re right, he will be an advocate for this in one way or the other because he lived to tell!
