Hey Ladies,
I am very much in need of some cheerleading. As most of you know , I got my real estate license 2 years ago. I have been blessed with “beginners luck“. Although I received my license in September 07, I didnt really get started until March 08, becasue I chose to take some additional education and training courses. Between March 2008 and July 2009 I had 5 settlements...not too bad for a beginner in todays market. But now I am dead in the water. I just enrolled in an expensive, intense, work laden, 6 week training course and I am afraid I bit off more than I can chew. You get tons of assignments and miss any of them between classes and you get a strike, 3 strikes, you are out of the class with no refund. I threw my hat over the fence and verbally and financially committed to this but now cannot bring myself to GET OUT and DO WHAT I NEED TO DO! I am sort of scared...never been a randowm door knocker, phone caller. I am a people person and am praying that gets me through this but I am not a good “salesperson” and this will sound funny, but I didnt sign onto this to “sell” people, I did it to help people. I love helping people. So now I am in serious crap...worried As I said...the committment is made we cannot afford to throw that cash away...Please pray for me to be able to get out there, fears be damned, and say what I need to say to get in doors and make those listings happen! I CAN DO THIS!
Has anyone else encountered this is their business? What did you do? Did it help? Just curious!
Thanks for listening!
Friends,
Ree

    • Maybe instead of seeing the course and the knocking down doors selling as a big evil beast which you have to wrestle with – why not take the opposite tack and think okay I'm not going to be that person but I'm going to learn how to be a better sales person and anticipate more how the market is changing and the needs of my customers are changing – plus at the moment you might be stuck at selling one level of house price and taking this course on and doing the assignments will allow me to move on to selling bigger , more luxurious properties which have a higher commission so less to be sold for more money.
All I can say in life when faced with problems I've taken the opposite route and it's worked – best of luck and hang on in there – if you made the initial commitment you must have thought it would help you in the long run ....... stop looking at the now and think how this will be in 12 months from now.

    • You CAN do this!

You were brave enough to get your license and you already have some impressive sales results on your record.  This training will help you get where you want to be.  Stick with it.  We all go through some moments of self doubt at one  time or the other, but when we face our fears we come out the better for it.

      Good Luck!happy

    • I agree with the above advice. Perhaps the most improtant thing is to change your mindset. Here is a few tricks you may be able to use

      1. To quote Nike “Just Do It“. It is okay to do it scared, just think of it more in terms of an adventure than some big scarry thing. The important thing is that you do it.

2.When you get the little gremlin like thought that tries to attack your self esteem and confidence, come up with a counter thought that will instantly dissove the fear. Phrases such as “Not Needed” and “Stop” often times work. Follow with a positive thought. I use this all the time and it really works.

      3. Create daily inspiraton- Everyday look up a businesswomen’s success story online. Everyone when they are in the process of a challenge have a degree of fear. By reading these stories not only will you be inspiresd, you will develop strategies for success.

4 Write in a journal.List all of your experiences that you learned and also include your accomlishments. When you are doubting yourself, review your list of success for encouragement.

5 Visualize success at least three times a day. During this process, clear your mind and imagine different scenarios that would always turn out positively.

Lastly, don’t forget to celebrate every little success! Godd luck, we all know that you can do it!

    • Great advice above, for me what has worked has been to paste on a smile and fake it till I make it, I am not a natural born salesperson. Good luck in finding the hurdle and strength to jump over it...you can do it!

    • Dear Marie,
You can do this I just know it!  Ten years ago, I was a part-time census worker knocking on strangers doors and bothering people with nosy questions.  It does get easier over time so hang in there! You are going to finish this class! Then you are going to be a great real estate agent, ready and all prepared to sell some houses.  You go girl!
