I need help here ladies. My grandmother is passing away. Its just a matter of time now, her dr’s have given her 5 days to 3mnths. She has alzheimers, and to look at her and watch her you cant tell that she’s ill. Im stuggling, the child in me wants so much to deny whats happening. But the adult in me is bracing for the reality. My grandma has always been a driving force in my life. In every aspect there is a memory of her in my past. I have to know one to lean on during this. I cant show my mother how this is effecting me, my mom is my grandmothers caregiver right now, she’s having a tuffer time than I am. I’ve been dreaming of her nightly now. Its very odd, its like shes just watching me sleep. I’ll see her again today. And thank God for it !!!! I know this is going to break me.

    • It is always tough to let go of a loved one, especially one who has  been such an incredible influence in your life. I know this since I lost my Dad last May. He also was given the days, weeks, months prognosis. In the end, we only had 10 weeks from when he was diagnosed. I am so grateful that I had this time with him. Take this time to share with your Grandmother how much she meant to you. Tell all of the uplifting and funny stories that you share. Concentrate on the wonderful times you shared and not on the fact that she will not be with you for much longer. The spirit and wisdom of your Grandmother will always be in your heart and that can’t ever be taken from you. When the time comes, know in your heart that she is in  a better place free from suffering. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

    • Hi Denise.. i am sorry you are going through this right now.. i do know what you are going through..i took care of my father when he was ill, and when he passed away.. that was 16 years ago.. what i did was i wrote him a letter, and read it to him, and you know, it did me alot of good.. 2 of my 3 children never got to meet thier grandfather, however they know him! i keep him alive in my heart, and tell them about him..

I am currently taking care of my mom and step dad.. they are both dying, and its pretty tuff on me.. like it was suggested by max. we talk alot about the fun and crazy times, and the not so fun times.. i think i will be in a better place handeling this when they do go..

i will keep you and your family in my prayers..
      HUGS
