Happy Monday

Today we were going to talk about lunch and dinner ideas which entailed vegan eating-but we're taking a detour through Angel Stadium.

One of the very nice publicists I've worked with invited me to a food event called "A Taste of the Majors"-a friendly competition of all the chefs and major league ballparks around the country and their favorite dishes.  A "warm-up" pre-party in preparation of the All Star Games that will be in "my backyard" July 11-13th.

It was a fun and tasty lunch for me, a publicist friend and my sister.  What kind of food will the ballpark be serving?  Pretty darn good food-from our perspective!

Now being the healthy food maven that I am-I must admit that while I somehow didn't break my own personal food plan completely-the fact that I was eating something more than veggies and hummus or a salad was still a bit out of my comfort zone.  But what I did try was sure worth it!

My tastes included: 2 slices of sushi-one called the Angels California roll that had some jalapeno on top and another one with smoked eel, spicy tuna and a teaser of avocado.  Very good!  I also had some Asian Chicken Salad that was just like one I myself make-grilled chicken, cabbage, mixed greens, shredded carrots, a bit of roasted peppers, mandarin oranges with a lite sesame dressing.  I had to try the New England Lobster Roll-delish!  I had a great cup of de-caf to wash it down and finished with some a strawberry!

My co-attendees tried the same, but added some of Clyde Wright's BBQ food, braised short ribs with polenta cake and a red wine jus (one of their favorites), the Angel Dog-bacon-wrapped dog with shredded jack cheese, charro beans and Anaheim chilies, the liquid nitrogen chipotle-chocolate ice cream (which according to everyone but dairy free me was some of the best ice cream they ever ate) and the caprese Panini.

I could go on but let's just say the had lots of countries and food styles represented and we were sent home with packs of Cracker Jacks, peanuts if we wanted them and a beautiful chocolate "All Star" box-I haven't opened it yet, but I'm pretty sure there's even more chocolate inside.

Thanks to Jenny Corsey of Westbound Communications for the invitation, the food and camaraderie of the wonderful chefs and their employers-Aramark, who manages to feed oh so many baseball fans all over the United States.

As an added nicety-the Stadium invited several boys from the local Boys and Girls Club and they seem to be having a great time at the dessert tables!

I've taken 25 pictures and will be doing my best to post them for you all to enjoy-hopefully!
