Many dog owners want to learn how to teach a dog to roll over, but sadly most are misinformed about how to go about this process.  The conventional method most dog owners learn is to teach their dog how to get into the "down" position, and then to physically roll them over, or try to bribe them to roll over by offering a treat.  This may seem like the easiest way to teach a dog to roll over, but it rarely works.  Most of the time, this is because being on their back is an uncomfortable position for a dog.  If they are forced into that position, rather than rolling there themselves, that will most likely frighten them and they will possibly resist learning the trick.  However, if you break the rolling over trick into four more simple tricks or positions, your dog will learn it much more easily.
