WARNING: THIS COLUMN IS A RANT ABOUT MY FEELINGS ABOUT A CERTAIN GOVERNOR AND HIS PETTY, STUPID CHOICES.

I know you are all wondering, "What could be wrong in a sunny state like California?"

Well, I'm going to break my rule about never discussing sex and politics, right here and right now and tell you! Not the sex part, but the political part.

Our governor (nicknamed governator) wanted about, oh, 7 different tax propositions to pass or he would "have to get tough" and do some major slashing of jobs, benefits, etc....

What? Wasn't it enough that my son-in-law was part of the massive layoffs in Orange County? Isn't it enough that even though he is graduating (right on the day this is published) AGAIN, this time from the Los Angeles County's juvenile correction officer training course and has been told this too might be a job with a short life span????

Evidently not-all the propositions, save one (that one barring pay raises for all the elected officials as long as the state's in debt), failed. So our wonderful governor decided to SHOW US-he cut off funding for the kids whose parents can't afford to pay for health insurance. The program is called Healthy Kids.
Yes, our delightful head of state cut off medical care for 225,000 youngsters.
Here's where it gets personal-2 of them are my grandsons, Dylan and Aidan.

First he takes away their father's job, then he makes it so the boys can't even be taken care of without putting their parents even more behind the "8" ball.

I'm sure the other parents of all these unfortunate youngsters have even more horror stories-kids who are in need of constant medical procedures, desperately ill and needing hospitalization, those who happen to get in an accident of any kind.

What is the matter with this man and his cronies? Supposedly, he's all about the family and making sure that the "kids-who are our future" are taken care of-so he takes care of them by how? Removing their ability to stay healthy???

And I'm mad-really mad. How dare this one person feel that he is so empowered that he can take away a parent's ability to care properly for their child/children?

This is just a spite move because he didn't get his way about raises taxes. GET A CLUE GOVERNOR-WE VOTED AGAINST THEM BECAUSE WE ARE ALL SICK AND TIRED OF THE WORKING CLASS GETTING THE SHAFT.

Rather than cut necessary funding for the health benefits of innocent children and laying off their hard-working blue collar parents-maybe he should have shown the state he meant business by taking away money for redecorating public offices!

    • the worst was that yesterday, Dylan was not well and the only 2 doctors we know don’t do kids-they tried to get her a break on an urgent care-the break, $130 instead of $250.  that wouldn’t include any tests or meds either.

    • Annie raises a good point. As a California native I’ve watched one special program after another develop for non residents. So, it would be logical to say that if these people pay less taxes or no taxes and still are allowed to receive from the state’s coffers, eventually the money runs low and taxes for those who pay need to be raised. Seems like a simple mathematical equasion to me. Now I don’t claim to be the most informed person in the subject so I’m going on observation more than anything here.

    • I agree YES terminate him at this point, I was happy with him prior to now.  Our tax went sky rocketing to 8.75%.  Other then Avon, my “real” job is selling wholesale to retail stores.  Considering retail is the worst it has been since the 1930s we hear over and over, my stores arent buying from me due to their lack of money.  Raising the taxes surely isnt an incentive to go shopping if anything they should have been lowered.

I know on the east coast several states have NO sales tax. I do believe cigarettes should be heavily taxed since they kill people and shouldnt be legal to begin with!

Even going to dinner (restaurants are hurting too) you get this ridiculous tax - your meal ends up being much higher then expected again- makes you want to stay home and eat!!

    • Ugh.  I moved back here a year and a half ago.  Truly, I question my choice.  Cut the crap, Arnie, and get to work.  Do the job you were hired to do... not the job your pocket-liners want you to do.  Taking from the health-care and school systems is just plain despicable.  If I ran my business like you run your office, I’d be in jail by now.  It’s just criminal how your office has been allowed to run things.  I am beyond surprised that the “voters” have let things get this far.  Your excuses lie upon “well, the people voted for this or for that.”  Did you only let your buddies vote or did you just not inform your fellow Californians of ALL the details?  It’s time for the people of this state to band together and take over this government... it’s time for new officers to be put into place... it’s time for us to say ENOUGH!

    • yes, illegal immigrants are getting free health care, college tuition, help w/ paying for living space and a host of other things.

and yes, Santa Ana is literally using over a million dollars to redecorate their offices-while the hard working juvenile corrections officers who made a whopping $16 an hour lost their jobs.

    • It has got to be one of the worst things he has done to date taking away child care.  I boycott all his movies and wont watch one of his commercials.  He has also taken away medical care of the people that have psychological problems.  Will also be taking away areas where the poor can go and keep warm in the winter.  If he is really wanting to help California why doesnt he and the people in office take pay cuts just like all the state workers are doing.  The amount of money that man makes and spends.  The Hummer he bought could house and feed hundreds of people.
I dont think he should have ever been allowed to take up the governship he is not born of this country so what if he took up residence. I believe his alliance will always be with his mother country.
I could probably rant for pages on this subject just thinking of him makes my hackles go up. I have never hated someone in my life like I hate this man. He and his governmental agencies should start thinking of the long haul. Taking care of the children, elderly, and the mentally challenged people now with preventive measures will save a lot of money compared to no healthcare services. It will make the clinics and hospitals go bust and then where will we be.
I am sorry still ranting.  Will quit.  Hope the people can someday come together and do something about this guy I just dont know where to start.

And why dont they stop helping the immigrants and start helping the people that were here first???
A woman of 85 years old never worked a day in her life in America and had only been here a few years got S.S.  now how in the world do you do that?   People that worked all their lives, injured people they have to fight to get the services.

    • For the first time in my life I am without health insurance and unfortunately its just when I need it the most. I know I have things going on health wise that isnt right, since we all know our own bodies.  My gums are bleeding and teeth hurt which normally is a sign of infection somewhere else in the body-I have been getting some odd chest pains too.  I cannot afford a doctors visit since you are charged for EVERY SINGLE thing such as the person that reads the results, facility charge, the doc charge etc. etc.

I paid for insurance my entire life-and now just because I am a US citizen I cant get help without insurance!!!  Canada is one country that gives you free healthcare- maybe I should move there for a while and come back????
