I usually don’t listen to the news too much, other than to get my local weather. Generally, ten minutes of it is all I can handle. Well, I got some headlines the other day as I had it on. The later story that was coming up I didn’t get in on the details and from what I am presently hearing on that story is that it may be a racial story. A woman got arrested for cutting in line at her local walmart and according to the headlines, she may indeed serve fifteen years for that.
The dominant story was of a woman who years ago had two children and killed one of them. According to the story, she served some time and got out and likewise got custody of her other surviving child. But now, the other child was dead and she had an attorney on their who was saying that it was an accident. Hmmm.
What has happened to our justice system today? Why would a woman who had previously killed one of her children be given custody of the other. I am really starting more and more to blame the judges, but that is not to say that we should let the criminals go free and have our judges serve their time, but something is wrong when someone may serve fifteen years for cutting in line, which is just plain rudeness and I can’t stand it when people act that way in public. But albeit, serve fifteen years and in the meantime, someone kills a child and perhaps serves a few years and then walks free. Yes, I do believe when these judges and attorneys get these people to walk free and they go out and offend again, they need to be held just as accountable as the criminal. I don’t understand the justice system at all these days. It is as if everyone has lost all common sense, but I guese that is why I try not to listen to much news as those stories do get to me. Maybe someday things will get better though

    • I know! It kills me sometimes what is being reported on and what people get away with.

    • I used to work for a couple of attorneys a while back and would often have lunch with them and the judges. The talk would sometimes be about pending cases and re-election )of the judges)...the attorneys would gently remind the judge that certain people (facing DUI’s, sex offenders) had contributed to their campaign....any guesses as to how light the slap on the wrist was for these offenders? I was appalled at how often that happened.

    • First of all, arresting someone for cutting a line in Walmart ????? Please!!!!!!  Second... with out knowing the details of the woman that killed her child and go custody of the second child, Its hard to judge.  However, just the common sensicalness of it all would be a no brainer “dont give a child to a child killer !!!”

Chidren cant pick thier parents and unfortunately.. anyone can make a baby and give birth.. unfortunately.. that does not make them Good Parents.

In divorce... after a couple marries and has a child.. the judges test both parents to see which one is right or fit to be a parent... Excuse me ???? Shouldnt that be done before someone brings a life into this world ????  I love the way judges decide the worst of two evils in some divorces to be a childs parent.  Yet... anyone can have a child with out question.. Its only in divorce that the mental abilty of the parents are in question or come into focus.

This is why our society created Charles Manson, and many more just like him.. walking around !
