Thanks for being here.... I'm so glad I found all of you wonderful ladies.  You've all been so supportive.

I'm going through a really tough time right now... being out of work has really made me unhinged this time... I say this time because it's not the first time... and I'm sure not the last.  I'm an IT consultant and it's the nature of the beast.  This stretch has been longer than it should be though, and the state of the economy hasn't helped... watching my savings evaporate is rough.

You all have given me the perfect distraction.  I really love the interaction... I don't feel so isolated and alone.  I see that I'm not the only one in this boat (unfortunately).

Like many of you I started a blog.  It occupies my time and, hopefully will eventually provide some income back-up.  I listen to all your advice, which, pat yourselves on the back, is very good.  I chose something I thoroughly enjoy and am passionate about... cooking.  Even if no one comes to it... I still love doing it.

I love the banter of this site... all of you have such a great sense of humor and have such diverse interests, I love reading your blogs and visiting your websites.

Thanks for being you!

    • Good morning.
Unhinged.. That’s a great word to describe this. I absolutely know how you feel as I too am going through that. It is definitely easy to come unhinged or unglued.
      Savings.. What’s that?? ;)
Ok. I agree with Vintage. VERY important to surround yourself with the positive. Very important as well to take extra good care of yourself during these times too. Eat healthy, try to work outit's empowering AND good for you. It's easy to find yourself sitting around during times like these. Avoiding that is crucial. I'm not sure where you live (sorry I didn't look yet) but take walks sometimes too fresh air helps clear the mind. I have to force myself to do that because this really is depressing~ but it does work.
I’ve avoided watching the news as well. Lately it’s never good & my forecast re the economy, well, I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking it’s not going to change for the better anytime soon, and I don’t mean to sound negative~ but that in itself is motivating enough for me to try & get this photography business off mine off the ground because reality shows there is no work out there corporately.
Is there something you can do as a new business of your own? Web design perhaps? Any hobbies you can turn into a business?

      How can we help you?

Good luck & I hope you feel better. Remember~ you‘re a smart cookie. You‘re strong & you will figure it out.
      We are here for you!!

    • Linda...
Things are definitely rough. I understand. Keep your spirits up and continue to blog. I does help just to be able to write your feelings out...or type them out...lol.
Take this time to take care of you. I have decided to look at this time as a time to improve me.
I got back into my workouts, meditate more to stay grounded and I’m learning a new language (okay, the new language thing I need to focus more on but I’m trying tongue out).
I have also been writing more, which I love.

All this keeps me from focusing on not having an “outside job” right now... and strangely enough, I know all of these things will in some way lead me to something that I can eventually make a living from.

Stay strong and open girl and just keep moving forward!

    • Have you ever entertained the thought of pursuing some other type of work that you have skills for?

If you‘re gonna rest a moment more, relax and enjoy the ride. Whatever you chose is a step in the right direction.

      much love

    • I feel your pain! My husband and I own a business and it has been slow all year! The fact that we are still open is a miracle. I believe with all my heart that my prayers and the prayers from my friends and family are what’s keeping our heads above water. My prayers will be with you too.

    • Good morning Linda, for the first time in my life, I found myself laid off from a job of many many years. Next thing I knew I was standing in an unemployment line.
I am so grateful, they gave me a package and I am able to draw the unemployment.
My shock of it only last a day or two! I decided that I would take advantage of the time and pamper myself a little bit.
It’s a little boring some days, I have always worked and loved being able to have that outlet.
I know it’s a tough time, but if you are able, sit back and chill for a while. Pamper yourself, you deserve it!

    • Luvin, Keep on Keepin on girl!
Something in this economy of ours has got to break soon. So many folks are hurting.
My daughter is a groomer and lives on commission. December is normally a big money making month for her....(we love to make a little pets beautiful.) But this year, people just can’t afford it.
      Everybody is feeling this pinch.
I’m very optimistic that this economy is going to soon get back to booming!

    • lcmiddlesworth- We are in the same boat as your daughter. We own a car, home, rv & boat audio business and that is just not a necessity for people right now. Not many people can afford those luxuries. Many car audio businesses around us have closed so if we can hang on until the economy gets better, we will be one of the few places left for people to go to. I am patiently waiting!

    • I was in IT too. I thought my job was secure. I was one of a team of 5 that supported a megabank (Suntrust). But God had a different plan. He was directing me down a different path. Now I am a wellness and weight loss consultant/coach and I love it. I was blessed to get a package too, even after it was initially denied. It held us over until I could get my home based business off the ground. Look at this like a new direction - Sometimes we struggle with the 'whys' until we get down the road and look back. Those are 'ah-ha' moments when we realize it was the best thing that could have happened, when in the midst of it we struggle not knowing how we'll manage. Hang in there, and let me know what you think of the above website. I had given up dreaming of life being any different until I was introduced to this!

    • Thank you... thank you.... I can’t thank you enough for your kind words and encouragement... I agree staying positive and healthy are priorities...

jenz...Good luck with your photography... I love to cook and started my cooking blog/website... I was hoping to start with that and possible branch out... maybe catering.. I’m hoping the ads from the blog bring in some revenue.. as for Web Design... I’m not a coder... I test systems... but after working on my site... I have increased my coding knowledge... it was a thought I may pursue

Vintage... thanks so much for your encouragement... I really appreciate it

Luvin... hang in there... things will get better...

lc... I couldn’t agree with you more.... and I do understand what you‘re going through... before I was a consultant... I was with a company for 14 years... senior member of a team... most versatile... most experienced... excellent reviews... and one day.. poof... the rug was pulled... it just stinks... but keep your chin up too... it will get better

Dee Dee... yes... I think God must have plans for me... He has always taken good care of me... and guided me through rough times... He will this time too

Almostfive0... Me too!... well it’s really not a new language I’m working on... I’m “re-learning” German... I used to be fluent... but if you don’t use it... you lose it... we haven’t used it (my Mom and me) much since my Grandmother died twenty years ago... so I decided it was time to rediscover it

47... yes.. I’ve been thinking about it more and more... I want to do something I’m passionate about... not just good at what I do... so we shall see... thanks for your kind words

      With Love,
      Linda
