Hard as it is to believe, Thanksgiving is almost here.  This year, I’m hosting.  Since moving here, both daughter’s have had the AZ clan over-so it’s my turn.

Besides, even though our house size is in the middle of the kids-we did buy that big dining room set complete with 10 chairs and I have the only full double ovens!

Steve and I have already purchased a nice 16 pound turkey, paper products, fresh cranberries for the homemade whole sauce, jellied for those who prefer it and I’ll wait until the 24th to buy the spuds and cauliflower for the mashed potatoes.  I also have to buy some sodas.

While Sam is handling the vegetables, Sarah’s doing the stuffing.  Alex’s mom drew dessert.  I’m sure I’ll need to buy some rolls, but I’m always feeling that this holiday is way to heavy in the carb column.

As for recipes?  You know my famous mashers will be on the table.  Sarah found a great recipe with roasted green beans, beets and goat cheese that is now a favorite.  I’m hoping since Sam is doing those that she either brings a salad or a crudité tray.

This will be Jackson’s first Thanksgiving where he will be eating-can hardly wait to see his face when trying out all the various goodies.

Dylan and Aidan are most excited about the jellied cranberry sauce and dessert-typical for a 6 & 7 year-old.

As for me, I’m just happy that this year I’m able to host, that I have shoulders that can somewhat do the work and that the house (by then)will officially be re-named Fort Knox of New River.

It’s been quite a ride the last 2 years, more of a roller coaster out of control-so my one thing that I’m most Thankful for is that I’m here, I’m somewhat better than I was last year at this same time and hopefully that the better years will be here soon.
