There is something to be said for waking up every day with a smile on your face and an incredible feeling of happiness. Life is a little about luck but mostly, things happen because of you and your choices. We all have baggage, dysfunctional families and things that have gone wrong in our lives. The choices we make shape our lives and our future.

When I was younger I went about my life, good things seem to happen. I landed the right jobs, drove nice cars and purchased my first real estate investment in my twenties. I was young so I never really gave the "why" a second thought. It took me a long time to realize that everything I had was because of the deliberate choices I made. I certainly was not at the top of my class and most would say I was a not very serious but there was something inside of me that made me naturally driven.

As I got older, I started to focus more on what I wanted my future to look like but I was not exactly sure how I was going to get there. A few years ago I met a group of women who were big believers in goal setting and the power of positive thinking. They talked about success, goal setting and the power within yourself to create your own future. It was like a switch went off in my head. I had been setting goals all my life and never really knew it.  I was excited to think of all the things I could accomplish if I put some structure and effort into them.  Not only has my life changed but the feeling that lives inside me has changed as well. I am happier and my respect for life and people has grown.

At some point in your life you start to realize life is as short as people say it is. I want to live my life without regrets, taking every opportunity that comes my way and embracing it. Have you ever asked yourself, if I was to die tomorrow would I be happy with the life I have led thus far? If your answer is no, why? No matter your age you have it within yourself to be, do and have all that you desire. The power is right there inside of you waiting to be awaken.  Don’t wait for tomorrow, Monday or when you have more time.  There is not better time than now to ask yourself, what are my dreams and what do I need to do to make them happen.  Everyone deserves to wake up every day and feel that feeling of happiness, self worth and accomplishment.

    • There is something to be said for having a positive attitude, it completely changes your presence.  Unfortunately some people are just stuck in the negative and do not know how to get out.  No blaming or pointing fingers can help any situation.  We are powerful beings and everything we need it right inside of us.

    • Great post Becky, I had to chime in

I remember when the movie “The Secret” came out, and everyone became preoccupied with building their vision boards and writing their goals down, and were all hyped up about life in general. Re-visiting most of those people few years later I found that nothing was done besides the boards, and their goals that they wanted to achieve were put on hold, and now they were all sad that “The Secret“, was bunch of b.s. nothing came true.
Setting goals is extremely important, but I would like to add that having a strategy on how to achieve them is crucial.

    • I could not agree more.  The Secret can get you started but you really have to have the desire and drive to push yourself forward to achieving your dreams.  You can not sit under the MegaBucks sign think positive thoughts, you have to get out there and be a “doer“.  Also people take failure as a negative product when it is actually a character building, learning experience that puts you one step closer to succedd.
