This book is absolutely wonderful. I could not put it down. the entire story, of a family in the Seattle area, is told from the viewpoint of their dog. Yes, their dog. And believe me, he has quite a bit to say! It ends up that this is a particularly well developed dog. Nevertheless the insights he offers on his master, on the relationships between both other characters and those characters with him, as the family dog...are both insightful and enlightening. You don’t have to be a dog person to appreciate this book but if you are you’ll simply love it.
The title refers to the dog owner’s primary occupation. The dog makes parallels between racing and maneuvering life itself..not an ineffective comparison!!!
I do warn that there will be tears...a lot of them....
Definitely one of my favorites this week...will warm your heart...
