Well....it’s finally happening for me! My husband and I have talked about having that awesome kitchen renovation and the day has finally come!
It’s been 23 years and the closest I’ve come to having a new kitchen of my own was buying a refrigerator for the first house we bought. That’s about it. Other than that I’ve been fixing and repairing appliances that should’ve gotten the boot years ago and dealing with a leaky sink and a faucet that simply never stayed in place (ugh).
I’ve loved cooking since I was a kid and in the past few years my husband has discovered the joy of it himself. And, so, today marks the official end of the “planning” stage and we‘re about to enter what can only be described as “demolition” stage this week! Yup, everything including the flooring is coming out and being replaced. We‘re even moving a wall a bit farther back and putting in a new wood ceiling!
Our dull economy is helpful in this situation right now as we‘re getting some excellent deals, so if you’ve been considering doing this yourself - now may be the time. And speaking of time, we are in line to be completed by the week before Thanksgiving, so I’ll be rolling up my sleeves (and getting out the rolling pin!) to make up for lost time. But, what a wonderful time that will be let me tell you!
As if the joy of seeing this dream come true weren’t enough - my mom, now 90, is sharing in my excitement and she’ll see the finished project when she comes to our house for Thanksgiving!
I’ll be taking before/after photos and posting them here, so friends you’ll be able to see what we’ve done!
Also, I’m always on the lookout for new and delicious recipes for Holidays, but this Thanksgiving even more so. If you have any favorites you’d like to share with me, I’d love to make some of them to grace our Thanksgiving table on that first day out for my new kitchen!
Enjoy the next few weeks of preparing for the annual Thanksgiving Feast, all of you who celebrate it, and I’ll be updating the progress of our renovation project as times goes by.
