As one who LOVES gadgets, when it came time for a new car I made sure my new on was LOADED with an entertainment system for the kids and bluetooth technology for hands-free phone calling, and an actual electrical outlet so laptops and phones can be recharged on the road. What I didn’t realize was that the coolest of these gadgets was going to be the remote/electronic locks that come standard on most cars today.

Here’s why ... This is exactly what I did ... NO KIDDING! This is a handy trick to remember if you ever lock your keys in your car.

I locked the doors of my Toyota Land Cruiser (aka “The Land Yacht“). I didn’t lock my keys inside (which is totally possible with the special keyless locks on the doors), but instead just stuck them into my pocket.

I called my husband’s cell phone from my cell phone - because he has the second set of keys.

I held the cell phone up to the window of the driver’s side door.

My husband held the extra set of keys up to his cell phone and pushed the unlock button.

THE DOORS OF THE CAR UNLOCKED!

Now that is cool!!! Don’t believe me? Try it yourself and let me know what happens.
