I thought of you today my friend

your life so young, put to an end

It’s been some time since that fateful day

when you were murdered where you lay

I saw a sign along the road

placed by a friend or so I’m told

In memory of—and then your name

The world will never be the same

There is a place in Heaven I’m told

where animals wait on a lonely road

for their humans to come to from their busy lives

they wait for them with eager eyes

I know you‘re there providing love

as you did on Earth, you do above

loving them and passing out bones

til their humans come from their earthly homes

To greet them on the other side

You ask for nothing-and take it in stride

One day I’ll join you too my friend

we both know death isn’t the end.

In memory of my friend, Paul Kissick—the keeper of the Rainbow Bridge—never could pass a stray animal here on earth.
