Today I felt compelled to send my three oldest children words of encouragement via text to express how proud I am of them and their recent progress: in school, as a new mommy and in becoming more responsible.

I have often sent my oldest daughters these types of messages via text, so my son was new to this act of my love for them. Normally the girls will respond “thanks mommy“, “I’m proud of you too” etc.

To my surprise Christopher’s response was ” R U Serious?”  I responded “Yepper!”  He responded “have u been up here?” meaning to the school.  I didn’t want to sound suspicious but I responded back “is there something I should know?”  he responded “no, i just wanted to no how u knew that.”

Either he was blown away by my initial text or he’s forgotten that on Monday he brought his progress report home which showed he’s earned an “A” in Social Studies, a class that he’s consistently failed  for the past forever!  In addition, I guess he forgot how he shared with me that same night how hard his computer class is but that he was going to let his teacher know and ask for suggestions on improving his grade (major growth and progress).  Christopher and I have struggled forever with his grades and his ability to excel in school.

We recently moved (that’s another blog) from Detroit to Inkster Michigan, I was reluctant to change schools from DPS system because I didn’t feel I knew enough about the school districts in Inkster.  However, I changed jobs (another blog) in February which forced me to change school districts (I know a lot of changing going on).  Every time I’ve changed Christopher’s school a major issue with his behavior has occured.  But this change has been totally different and I’m so glad I made the switch LOL.

Anyhow, I really started this blog to simply say ENCOURAGE someone today (via telephone, email, text, a note, a hug, etc., etc., etc.) especially your children no matter how young or old they are it really makes a difference!  As I close this blog (to start another) Cherish just responded to the text, check out what she say...” Awww I love u 2 and thnx.  I learned from tha best!”
