I belong to a group that is not here.. for people who have a certain condition..“PTSD” .And you get all kinds of people who come in. Everyone has had a story to tell, and everyone supports one another.

There are people who have been to war, others who have had an abusive spouse, others who have been traumatized as a child and others who have seen others suffer. The one commond thread there is PTSD

The one thing that I have learned that people find so helpful, more than anything, else are the words: “I understand”

When people are broken, suffering loss,  or ill; sermons wont do justice. So it is for people with PTSD. They are not seeking  pity.. or poor yous .just a friend to walk with them on the joureny...Someone who understands..someone who will say it’s ok to have that condition.

PTSD comes as a result as something traumatic happening in life. It was once associated mostly with war veterans; but, little by little Doctors were seeing the same symptoms in other people.

People who have this condition are normal folks:

    • Hi Eva:

I think more and more folks are being diagnosed for it and many are married to men or women who have served in military..I have heard many things by interacting with those who have it..

      Thanks for your comment..

      Hope you are well.

And 3/4 through the book :)

Just an open question here I have avoided cancer forums etc and things which go with terminal illness because I often find they become feeding grounds for pity parties and I have a different party by just fighting and being alive - have you noticed this on the forum or do you you just chat as friends and have fun

    • Hi UKGirl: didn’t know you have that :(  but I went myself to understand it.. really ..since I thought I know so little.

You are right.it gets pretty sad.. there.. it breaks me up. I don’t handle hearing people hurt too well. . so I don’t know if it’s good or bad??

Someone suggested I join, but I find it sad at times

      heart

    • PTSD, like any ‘issue’ mental or physical is never the same for each person. I have trouble when people use ‘blanket’ statements regarding any ‘illness‘.

One person’s ‘trigger’ may not be another persons ‘trigger‘.

"When people are broken, suffering loss or ill, sermons won't do justice"  Maybe for some but not all. No one can say what will do a person justice and what will not unless you are that person in those shoes.

There are different stages of PTSD and different reasons why a person may be dx‘ed with PTSD. [war, rape, traumatic injury or illness] So, really, no one person can say what’s right or wrong for anyone but themselves.

    • I have PTSD

I am thinking of a question about why does it only apply to people who have exerienced certain “things” in life -many people have anxiety,
      PTSD stands for POST  Traumatic—_injury._

      Post Trauma...
