The Spider’s Web

When troubles come our way, our response should be one of confidence and
not fear. The Lord has promised that He would fight our battles for us and
nothing by any means shall hurt us. I believe if we come to our problems
with the confidence that our God is able to deliver us, the enemy of hell
will himself find discouragement rather than the pleasure that he intended.
Trust the Lord with every area of your life and know that because you have
given yourself to Him, the Lord has promised to lead you and protect you
all the days of your life. Rejoice in this fact and know that you are
greatly loved by the Lord. (Isaiah 54:13-15) (Exodus 3:13-15) (Jeremiah 31:3)

This is a good story that shows God’s protection and deliverance. I hope
this message ministers to your heart to always trust the Lord and know that
He will be there to protect you, strengthen you and deliver you from every
obstacle of the enemy.  

THE SPIDER‘S WEB

A young soldier found himself in a terrible battle. The enemy was soundly
defeating this young man’s platoon. He and his comrades found themselves
hastily retreating from the battle field in defeat, running away in fear
of their very lives.  

The enemy gave chase. This young man ran hard and fast, full of fear and
desperation, and soon found himself cut off from his comrades in arms.  

He eventually came upon a rocky ledge containing a cave. Knowing the enemy
was close behind, and that he was exhausted from the chase, he chose to
hide there. After he crawled in, he fell to his face in the darkness,
desperately crying to God to save him and protect him from his enemies. He
also made a bargain with God, one which I have made before. He promised
that if God saved him, he would serve Him for the remainder of his days.  

When he looked up from his despairing plea for help, he saw a spider
beginning to weave its web at the entrance to the cave. As he watched the
delicate threads being slowly drawn across the mouth of the cave, the young
soldier pondered its irony. He thought, “I asked God for protection and
deliverance, and he sent me a spider instead. How can a spider save me?”

His heart was hardened, knowing the enemy would soon discover his hiding
place and kill him. And soon he did hear the sound of his enemies, who were
now scouring the area looking for those in hiding. One soldier with a gun
slowly walked up to the cave’s entrance. As the young man crouched in the
darkness, hoping to surprise the enemy in a last-minute desperate attempt
to save his own life, he felt his heart pounding wildly out of control.

As the enemy cautiously moved forward to enter the cave, he came upon the
spider’s web, which by now was completely strung across the opening. He
backed away and called out to a comrade, “There can’t be anyone in here.
They would have had to break this spider’s web to enter the cave. Let’s
move on.”

Years later, this young man, who made good on his promise by becoming a
preacher and evangelist, wrote about that ordeal. What he observed stands
by me in time of trouble, especially during those times when everything
seems impossible.  

He wrote: “Where God is, a spider’s web is as a stone wall. Where God is
not, a stone wall is as a spider’s web.”

Encourage yourself in the Lord and know that He will be there to fight your
battles because of your trust in Him. The Bible declares in Isaiah 59:19,
“...When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall
lift up a standard against him.” Never allow your circumstances to get you
down, but rather lift up your hands in praise to God and show the enemy
that you will not be moved because God is on your side and your Victory is
promised in His Word. Be confident in God’s Word and know that if God said
it, then He will be faithful to bring it to pass.

I pray that you never get discouraged when the enemy comes in like a flood
because you have a promise from God that He shall lift up a standard
against the enemy and will bring you forth Victorious. I encourage you to
claim God’s promises for yourself and thank Him everyday that He is on
your side.  

Remember: You and God are a majority. Never allow anyone to tell you any
different.

Psalm 34:4-8 “I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all
my fears. They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were
not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him
out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them
that fear Him, and delivereth them. O taste and see that the LORD is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them
that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”

Psalm 20:6-7 “Now know I that the LORD saveth His anointed; He will hear
him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some
trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of
the LORD our God.”

Psalm 37:3-6 “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the
land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and
He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the
LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. And He shall bring
forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”
