As much as i dislike the cold winter months, i still find it amazing how a fresh blanket of snow can make me feel warm inside.

My childhood home is located in a rural area surrounded by lots of undeveloped farmland.  The colors of spring are abundant and brilliant but the effect of a fresh snow is breathtaking.

My very best friend lives about a mile-and-a-half from the house where i grew up so after our lunch date yesterday, i took advantage of the opportunity to take in the distant, but familiar, beauty of my childhood winters.

This picture was taken as i drove up the road from my friend’s toward the home where i grew up:

This is the house where i lived from the time i was 8 until i was married:

This is the still vivid view from the end of the driveway, looking down the hill:

    • Just beautiful, Daphne. There’s something so special about being able to revisit our childhood memories in person. Nothing in the world like going home!
      Thank you for sharing.

    • Thanks, Cynthia!  I don’t get up that road often and i swear, one of these days i’m going to knock on that front door and make myself known!  I understand that an older woman lives there...she and her husband bought it from my mother but he has since died.  My mother keeps telling me that the woman would love to have me stop by.

    • Ah, nothing like a little nostalgia to give you the warm fuzzies. The pictures are beautiful and when combined with the snow falling on this page, almost make me feel like I’m looking at it through my window.

Thanks for sharing with us! estatic

    • Wow. That would be an awesome Christmas present and I’m sure she would love the company.

The pictures are postcard quality and so inviting.

      BTW your portrait is beautiful!

    • Thanks so much, 47.  I’m going to give some serious consideration to visiting the woman who lives there during the holidays.  I was cautious to not slow down too much yesterday because i wouldn’t want her to think i was up to no good.
