Mom looked good, for her age. She always paid close attention to staying out of the sun ( I am a bit guilty of not listening) but then along came sunscreen and boy did I slather it on! She always reminded me that the neck looks old before the face, because women tend to forget it...she always slopped her neck with goo—-way before women in her age group did. She looked good—really. But as she aged, and before she was aware, her hands began to look like that of an old lady.

Hands are forgotten while we focus our attention to the face and neck. I forgot mine, so now my hands look ten years older than I do...had I known, I could have done something about it, but now I have to backtrack!

Ladies,  warn your daughters. Exfoliate your hands, moisturize them, and use a good sunscreen on them! I wish my mother had known, and had passed this information on to me, but you can rest assured my daughters know. Your hands will likely get more UV exposure than your face and neck during your lifetime, so protect them with love and care, and you will not give away your age!

    • So True! Now that I’m losing weight, boy - you can really see my age since I don’t have as much chubbabubba to hide the wrinkles and lines.

Don’t forget that a lot of your age shows also by DNA default. However, most of us can all use more sleep, drink more water, eat healthy live foods, keep alcohol to a minimum or none and quit smoking (smoking is horrible on your skin). Be sure to also use a moisturizer that has SPF15 and use a foundation that provides another layer of protection against the harmful rays of the sun. Foundation is like clothes for your face!

      Great post!
      Love, kelly

    • This is so true... both of my daughters work in the beauty industry I just left so they are all up on what to do. Heck they sell the $200 creams to women explaining what it’s for. They make proper reccommendations on skincare and makeup since they have been trained thoroughly..... but do you think they apply their knowledge to themselves? Of course not... they are invincable and will be young and youthful looking forever.
Since my skin looks better now than in my 30’s they think that is how they will be. I worked hard to repair the damage I did to myself. My mom warned me and at 67 her skin had very few fine lines and no wrinkles to speak of.....
Oh to be that carefree again.......

    • I am sort of lucky with my ethnic background.  However, yes, yes, the hands tell it all even to Oriental.

    • CD make sure you mask, exfolliate and moisturize your hands often.... daily if possible but at least weekly for masking and exfolliating.
I like sugar scrubs better but salt ones help to remove bloatiness.

    • LOL! I don’t think that will help your hands. It will help your face if you had a bad night tho!

    • Yes mask your hands..... you can use what you would on your face. But a less expensive way to go would be to get some stuff for hands and feet. It’s a nice weekly luxury for me.

    • I mask my hands once a month, however I do a dead sea salt scrub on them weekly.I have considered it more often, but I don’t think it is needed, and might do some damage perhaps.
I think weekly is enough luxury for me. The jar I have is what I sell and it lasts forever and ever and ever. REALLY! I COULD do it daily if I wanted to!
I love luxury without having to leave home to get it! Consider me a big spoiled baby, but I do my feet with this stuff too....lol. Sometimes I burn candles while doing it!

    • OH I have this whole ritual I do on my papmer day. Masking and exfoliating my hands and feet, dry brushing my body before I soak in tub and use scrubs, masking my face and hair.
It’s about a 2 hr ritual but I have been doing this for years cuz I’m worth it!!!
