If I had any doubts I know now that I’m in the middle of menopause. Yucko! I have had hot flashes off and on for the past two years lasting maybe a month or two. For the past two weeks things have gotten much worse. Waves of heat all day long....can’t sleep at night....and I’m an emotional basket case. OMG, this morning I broke down in front of my 20 year old son. It was so embarrassing. I was sitting on the steps sobbing, and He said whats wrong mom?....I just looked up, and said “I’m getting old“. He started laughing, and said You are crying, because you are getting old? I  sobbed even harder not able to explain. Finally I got a grip, and told him that it was a hormonal thing. He got it then. Bless his heart...I know it was a very awkward  situation for him, and me too. He gave me a big hug, and told me It’s just part of life mom, and assured me that I would be o.k. (what a sweetheart).

I’m not sure what to do about this. I’ve heard bad things about hormone therapy, and I don’t know that much about natural hormones. I would love to hear from others that have been trough, or are going trough this. what are some of the things that have helped you? Please share your survival secrets with me. I don’t like this menopause stuff. It’s not fun at all!

    • Kimmy, try taking Omega 3 Fish oil (at least 500 mg 2x day) and flaxseed oil. My flashes went away in a couple of days! Exercising (yech) helped but not as much.

When all else fails, drink something cool like Chardonnay.

    • Kimmy,

I will ask my clients in the next couple of weeks the type of natural remedies that have helped them. I haven’t heard of flaxseed or fish oil being used for menopause ... but I know they are both good for you !  And I will certainly let my clients know about these two recommendations.

As an after thought.... I was told to use flaxseed oil by my chiropractor when I hurt my back some time ago. I can’t remember why. I decided not to use it for some reason that I can’t remember.  It may be that it could cause constipation (((????)))))  Again, not absolutely for sure.

Just do your research on any type meds or rememdies before taking to make sure that it works with your bodies system.

What a sweet and caring son you have !!!! You are blessed !!

      Keep us upadated !

      Big Hugs~!

    • Hey Kim,

Saw your blog about your “issues” and wonder....have you ever tried acupuncture?  I know the thought of needles freak some people out, but you really don’t feel the prickiness of the needles.  The guy I go to/work for has had great success with many menopausal women with acupuncture treatments and herbal formulas created to help balance things out.  Not only that, but if you paired acupuncture with chiropractic treatments, you might see tremendous stress relief that may affect your menopause symptoms as well.  Just a thought.

      Hang in there, sister!
