Just hearing the phrase “Over 40” irritates a lot of women. Why?

A few years ago when I turned 40, I didn’t understand why women had an issue with that phrase. And as of right now, I still don’t see what the issue is. But, I can say, though, that turning 43 last October has not been the issue for me.....the issue for me has been a combination of things.

These things that I am referring to would be better left unsaid, but I feel that I have to vent somehow and someway. Therefore, I will say that my issues have to be whether to stay in a marriage that doesn’t have much going for it, decisions on buying a house, and the scary world of perimenopause (or menopause). Out of these three issues, the only one that has been a constant in my life for several years would have to be about staying in my marriage.

Don’t get me wrong here. I grew up thinking “til death do us part.” But, recently, I have been thinking twice about staying married to my husband....“Why?“, you ask. Well, when you go through the daily rituals of my marriage, you get someone who stays in bed from the time they get home til the time they get up to go to work. They do not help around the house at all. They tend to mock you when you do things. So, this all comes to a head in one form or another for me. And whether it be my kids telling me that I am moody or just the fact that I am tired from doing everything, then yeah, I feel a change coming on. Somehow, someway, something will have to give.

What ever else happens, I think that this will be a very big deal breaker on the other two things that I have issues with.
