I woke to this news this morning. An SUV packed with gun powder, propane cylanders, gasoline, wires and a timing device. crude but real just the same.

What impressed me the most about all of this is the way the police handled the situation and the level of calm by residents and tourists alike.

Kudos to the T-shirt vendor who saw something was suspicious about this vehicle and called police, who handled it perfectly.

    • I love visiting New York City and like many this kind of thing would not keep me away from going there.

    • I live in New York and was more upset about the Pace University student who decided to pack a load of explosive chemicals in a back pack and go into the subway tunnels. We’ve been on the highest alert for quite some time so by all means, come and visit!

New Yorkers have the rep of being the rudest people in the country, which can be true on occasion. But when something like this bomb scare happens, you can be sure NYers will step up to the plate, and help everyone and anyone with no question.

    • I agree with you. But when my husband and I visited twice to New York we were impressed with everything, even the people. We were treated wonderfully in an Italian restaurant called La Vineria and even was given some aged balsamic to use at our table. We remembered how nice they were and went back the next time we were in town. Then we recommended it to friends and they ate there several times and even brought a group of 12 one night.

Then I was in a chocolate shop talking with the young man behind the counter and before I left he handed me a beautiful little truffle, compliments of him. Great memories of New York and its residents.

    • I used to have a t-shirt that said ‘Welcome to NY, now get the .... out!’ It made many NYers smile and the tourists smirk and sneer. We love tourists, but just because I happen to be passing by a group of tourists, I am not “Information Please” and I don’t want to touch your camera to take your photos! Grrr!

Both good and bad press naturally. Didn’t hear anything about the bomb scare being connected to South Park, I believe they have a suspect spotted on the video. The SUV has been towed to the Crime Scene Lab in Jamaica, and I bet with the size of that Unit, they’ll find something before the end of the week.

I’m surprised that silly cartoon is still on the tube. How many times did Kenny die already? In the words of Cartmann: “Respect my authoritarr!”

    • I’ve seen the video clip a couple of times and it looks like the guy taking off his shirt is coming from the opposite direction.

Not that he couldn’t have kind of circled to that point though.

However, if they have that video where’s the video of when the car was parked and the person was getting out???  What was it, a few minutes or so before what they‘re showing us?  Regardless, I can’t imagine that they don’t have that also.

I don’t trust this government as far as I can throw them.  And, I don’t care if they are a D or R.
