I found myself laughing at my decision in picking this unusual economic environment to assist in launching a new chapter for a non-profit and assisting a friend with marketing a business that was launched because of a gift he had made for me.

As a small business owner, I had to decide whether to go safe and get a full-time nursing job or to continue to do what I have done the past twenty five my own business.  For now, I am going to believe that just playing it smart and being conservative with my resources will suffice.  It is my opinion that we have a glut of non-profits out there doing the same function.  Consolidation is going to be important as we move forward in these uncertain times.  But it will be interesting to see how people actually react, whether they become proactive or keep doing the same old, same old.

My non-profit adventure is Equestrian Aid Foundation, which assists equestrians aka horse people, who have experienced catastrophic or life-threatening illness or accidents.  HBO Real Sports:A Deadly Ride showcased the EAF’s most recent recipient, Darren Chiachia. Any donation to the new Southwest Chapter is greatly appreciated.  This organization has bare bones administrative costs so those of you who are horse lovers, remember that the people who take care of horses also need our help.  ““:[Link Removed]

GoodHearted/Hardheaded Woman started as a gag gift made by my friend, Mike Brown, for me when I was going into get some heart related tests.  He is an amazing man.  Intelligent, funny witty, sweet, kind but also handyman extraordinaire!  A Renaissance man but not a metrosexual or macho!  Mike loves women but is not lecherous or creepy.  He is the kind of guy friend all of us need to have. Go check out what he has created with his sister.  Be sure to scroll down.  There are great photos and a really rockingly funny song, by Elizabeth Cook called, “Sometimes It Takes Balls to be a Woman”

Send your friends.  The clothing is well made, reasonably priced and fun to wear.  A great gift!  ““:[Link Removed]
