This morning I woke up just like any other day.  But as I was getting dressed I had this very uneasy feeling that something bad was going to happen today.  I called my friend Toyia who works with me and warned her to be careful entering the branch this morning that I had an uneasy feeling.

We all got to work fine and nothing really happened at work.  But when I returned from lunch Toyia had gone to the middle school to pick her son Marcus and he was sitting in our break room with his head down on the table.  I asked her what was wrong with him and she told me that his good friend at school had died.  Died????  A fourteen year old?  But he did.  He was at P.E. and had just run the 200 yard dash..(not far at all).  He yelled out to the P.E. teacher (who went to school with my son...a 2nd year teacher) and said, “Coach“.  The P.E. teacher turned around and looked at him.  He yelled at him again, “coach” and then collasped.  The P.E. teacher ran to him and realized he was not breathing, called the principal on the walkie talkie for help medical help..and started doing CPR on him.  He worked on him constantly until the ambulance arrived..then they begin to work on him and did so all the way to the hospital.  There they continued to work on him for another 50 minutes but was not able to bring him back.

He was a normal healthy young man than had no history of any disease, problems..period.  They will do an autopsy on him tomorrow which I feel it will end up being a heart defect that was never detected.

The parents did get to the school before they took him to the hospital but I think at that time they knew he was gone.  Of course these parents are going through a nightmare.

The P.E. teacher is dealing with a lot tonight and has been advised by his principal and co-teachers to stay home tomorrow.  He is also a member of my church and in our pastor’s journey team group.  I’m very grateful for that.

Those of you that have small children...hug them a little more...tell them you love them more often....and never part from them angry.  And if you‘re children are grown..out of the house.....let them now how you really feel..

And please pray for this family...their last name is Fox....and the P.E. teacher...his name is Richard.  And for the teachers and students at this middle school.  They are all  hurting tonight.  Thanks...

    • Thanks Ingrid....I really feel sorry for Richard (the pe teacher). He and my oldest son went all through school together. I hate that it happened with him but you know...I think there is a reason for Richard to have been the one to have this happen to.  I just do not want him to second guess his efforts.  He did everything right...and more.
I know you know how all of this feels all too well. I hope these parents will have their support they are going to need.
      Thanks for your prayers.

    • Mary,

I am so sorry to read about this. I will say a prayer for the Fox family and for Richard as well. What a sad time.

We don’t always know why... but God does. We must remember this.

      Big Hugs,

    • Thank you all so much.  I appreciate your kind words but I just wanted to remind you all to take time to hug your kids, grandkids a little tighter....tell them you love them. We are not promised tomorrow.  I do not know this family personally but I feel so bad for them and I just pray that God will give them some sort of peace and strength to get through this difficult time in their lives.  Of course things will never be the same but hopefully through this child’s death something good will happen that will change another child’s life....make a families come together who may have been torn apart by whatever...or just to teach these kids to love one another and appreciate one another.  You never know what will come out of this.  That is the only way I can look at it.

They are doing an autopsy today so we should know exactly what happen in the next day or so.  Emergency grief counselors will be on hand at the school for the rest of the week.  Next week is spring break for the schools so the kids will be out.  Just keep these students, teachers, and family in your daily prayers.  Thanks everyone...happy

    • How devastating for everyone involved and especially for the family.  This just puts life right back into perspective doesn’t it.  Will think about this family tonight as I pray.
