I met someone today, someone who said they will love me unconditionally.  This someone said they will always put my feelings first.  This someone said I will always be first, never second best again.  This someone also said they will take very good care of me, spoiling me every chance they get.  This someone told me I won’t have to worry about anything, that everything is gonna be ok.  This someone said I will be happy with them, because this someone has my best interest at heart, and never want to see me hurt.  This someone said they will take very good care of me, because it hasn’t been done in a long time.

This someone, Is Me!!  I have made the committment in ‘09, not a resolution, to DO ME this year!  I’m gonna be better to myself than I have been in a very long time.  I know we as women sometimes lose ourselves in our everyday life, taking care of family and worrying about friends.  Worrying about things (and people) that aren’t even worth the thought.  Making people (and things) a priority, when we are sometimes just an option for them.  I am going to be more focused this year on what’s most important, and that someone is ME!!

    • LOL...Linni we are so much alike...and probably like many other moms out there...always thinking of others before ourselves...I think that comes from being a mom....putting our children first...I have done that for too long...my girls are 24 and 25...I think they are old enough and capable enough to do without me fussing on them all the time...so that is my biggest resolution this year...to be the best I can be...for me...I also shopped for myself...I bought meself some AVON...lol

    • Way to go karyno!!  Do YOU this year!!  I’m ready to let others (grown folks) make all their own mistakes this year, without my trying to divert their shortcomings!!  They need to learn! LOL  Like my great-grandmother used to tell me, “you live long enough, you’ll see and make a whole lotta mistakes!”  You live and you learn.

    • Sure leadinlady!  I don’t mind at all, I’m hoping alot of us ladies take heed to a new way of thinking about ourselves and just be like “whatever!” when things don’t go quite right, and just let it roll off.  We are too blessed to be stressed in ‘09!!  Hey, what about the fact that we‘re gonna have a new President in 19 days???  Like he said, “it’s time for a change“, and I’m saying the same thing!!

Because I am a visual person, I will have to design a poster for my office at work, just to remind me. I love it!

I made the deal with myself back in October and I've been clearing the decks to make it happen since then ....... Good for you honey – stick to it.

    • Thanks UKgirl, I plan on sticking to it!  It’s gonna be a work in progress, but I’m gonna do it.  I have always been that caring person, who wants everyone around me to be happy.  I still want everyone to be happy, but I’m gonna focus more on my own happiness.  I’m that person who would always think of others on their birthdays, anniversaries, etc., but it seemed no one thought of me, which is why I’m at this stage.  I’m clearing my calendar this year, not to be mean, but to focus more on what I want for MY birthday, MY anniversary, etc.  I know others are gonna be expecting me to call or buy them something or offer to take them out to lunch, but they are in for a rude awakening this year!  It’s all about me!!

    • That’s exactly what I’m talking about Linni!!  Let’s not make everyone else a priority when we‘re only an option to them!!  I’ve never had a surprise party before either, but I have hosted a couple.  When I was about to turn 40, I really expected someone to do something, even if it was something small, for me.  But the closer it got, I realized I was on my own on this one if I wanted to have a party, and sure enough, I threw myself one heck of a party!! It’s all about me now!
