I’m just plain “bored out of my gourd” lately.

It’s either I’m trying to please the tastes of our older grandsons or trying to get DH to realize that he MUST change his “after dinner” snacking habits.

Neither is easy.

He told me, “I’ll eat anything as long as it doesn’t suck“.

Problem?  He likes:  beef, white rice, fried rice (made with white rice), beef, regular pastas (i.e.-not whole grain version), beef, French fries and tater tots.

I’ve been serving him brown rice, barley and quinoa for years and he told me that he doesn’t really like them!

I pointed out that per his GP-that needs to change.  Plus, no more carbs once dinner is over and sugars too.

So what did he eat at 10 p.m. last night?  Enough popcorn to feed a family and the last of a bag of marshmallows I keep to put in hot chocolate for the kids.

This isn’t going very well.

Tonight?  grilling salmon with lemon pepper, roasting asparagus and trying a new form of quinoa-kaniwa.  No rinsing and it’s supposed to taste and feel nuttier than the regular version.

Cross your fingers.  I’ll let you know how this turns out.

    • Good luck.  It’s been my experience that there is no changing men.

And they seem to be worse than kids for being picky.  If they haven’t tried it, they‘re pretty sure they don’t like it.  frown

    • He’s usually good about trying new recipes and such-but it’s the stick in the craw about HAVING to change his diet that makes it hard.

tonight?  going to try a faux alfredo (creamed cauliflower w/ some romano  and grilled chicken sausage.  some grilled asparagus on the side.
