    • I agree! I recently read the book “The Gentle Art of Blessing” by Peirre Pradervant and I learned to realized difficult situations are a way of becoming closer to God. That in itself is a blessing.

    • I could not get my head round this when I first got sober.  I always thought I had to sort everything out for myself, and I definitely did not believe in any sort of Higher Power (apart from vodka!).  But in the end it did not matter what I did or didnt believe in.  The ONLY thing I had to do was to open my mind a small fraction and be willing to SEEK . . . . seek and ye shall find . . . oh yes, how true that is!  Then when I finally got REALLY desperate it suddenly became very clear to me that I must constantly seek direction from a power greater than myself and keep my own trouble making hands off my life!!  I turn my life and my will over to my higher power each and EVERY day now with the 3rd Step prayer of AA:

“God, I offer myself to thee, to build with me and to do with me as thou wilt.  Relieve me of the bondage of self so I may better do thy will. Take away my difficulties, so that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of thy Power, thy Love, and thy way of life.

May I do thy will always”
