pic     So as you know, and I’m so grateful for your encouragement, my Fab40 Sisters, I’m totally immersing myself into one of my books (a vocal technique book) because I’ve decided that I absolutely want to make this work. Also, I need money really bad. But mainly I want it to help people who want to sing.

Okay, so the plan is: to promote the book - a series of short short videos on YouTube on how to sing. The first 5 videos will each cover a vowel sound. Then I’ll go on to do a breathing video, and so on.

So they‘re not really that interesting, at least to the general public. But my hope is that they will capture the attention of at some singers who want this information.

I’ve got the first 2 of the vowel sounds up. They‘re at:

and

It took me 2 entire work days, I kid you not, first because I haven’t sung publicly in years, and second because I don’t know how to work the darn software. My main concern is that:

1) Do I look like a complete idiot? The other voice instructors up there seem to have more strength to them.

2) Do you think I should re-do the videos and use a stronger voice with more vibrato?

3) My ex-fiance, John, told me that I’m too terribly self-conscious and this distracts him from the material. If you all agree, I’ll definitely take these 2 down and re-do them, before putting up the other vowel sound videos.

Thanks, angels. Bless you all.

    • Hi Suzann,

I think you should do the breathing techniques before the actual vocal lessons this is how I was taught when I took vocal classes they taught us how to breathe first. Just my H.O happy

    • Thanks, Neicy. You‘re right about the breathing - it should come first. I’m going to fix that.

Lola, I used to have a cockatiel who sang arpeggios with me - and when I got to the top of my range, I guess she totally shrieked on the top note. Hmmmm. It’s hard to gage.

    • Suzann....I thought you were great!  I like your voice...it’s very easy to listen to.  You know sometimes some people’s speaking voices are either too loud, too winey...or too squealy...but yours is smooth...clear, and easy on the ears.  I would not change it.

Since I know nothing about singing and I can’t sing...but sometimes I think I can....I can’t help you on anything else.

I would love to be able sing.....

I have a 1st cousin whose daughter is an opera singer...and made her Metropolitan Debut two years ago.  Her name is Leah Partridge...google her...and you will see her.  She is beautiful!

    • I also really like your speaking voice. It’s easy to listen to. I don’t know anything about singing and I agree that breathing instruction would be a good place to start but you’ll need a “hook” to get people to continue. You know how our world today is so into instant gratification. I might start out with you singing on the video so listeners and potential customers can get excited about the potential of what they may sound like. Then start the short “teaser” instruction, but leave them with the desire to go and purchase the book. I’d also choose a different setting for your background. I found myself distracted by the furnishings in the room. Instructional videos and books can make a tidy income for you! I think you‘re definitely on the right track.

You may want to google “singing instruction youtube” and see what others are doing so you have a comparison.

Stick with it, you‘re on to something!

    • heart I think you should sing also maybe something that each exersised helped you with then go into the exersise. It could be me but also demostrate them alittle longer. I loved your voice and when speaking you were very clear and didnt rush your sentances or instructions. Loved the color of your top it made you pop! May I ask something and Im sooo not tring to be rude but sometimes people blink more when being filmed or in a presentation infront of large crowds. I think you were beautiful and confedient. You really on to something.
My daughter wants lessons so she watched next thing I knew she was infront of the restrooms mirror giving it a go.heartheart

    • Thanks for the suggestions, Cris - you‘re right, the reason my eyes are blinking so much is because I’m totally too nervous.

Cynthia, excellent ideas. Thank you, I’m going to do that.

In the meantime, I think I’d better take the videos down until I can implement these great ideas you all have. I also need to get my own singing voice stronger - so there’s a lot of work yet to be done.

Thank you for your wonderful encouragement.
