During the summer months I typically shut down my business; at least I stop shipping because of the heat. But I have to continue earning so, as my shipping slows down, wedding season heats up. This year I’m doing several and I have to say I really enjoy this type of work. I like working with brides - they‘re so starry eyed and excited for their future. It’s such a happy time.

Today I went out to a popular wedding spot on Maui called Olowalu. It’s an old home on the water near Lahaina and it’s a beautiful setting for any type of event. I delivered their wedding favors so now I concentrate on next week’s wedding.

But as a few of you know, I’m losing my kitchen at the end of August. The woman I sublet from is shutting down her bakery which leaves me with no place to do my work. This comes at a really horrible time. I just landed the largest single order of my seven years as a chocolatier. Over 2,500 chocolates packaged in various ways for a large fundraising event on Oahu in September. So I’m scrambling to secure a commercial kitchen to sublet until I’m able to rent one of my own. If you wouldn’t mind, please keep some positive thoughts in the back of your mind for me. I believe in the power of collective thought and prayer and would appreciate a little back up positive thought from my fab40 friends.

Here are a couple of photos from today’s wedding favors. The bride chose a silver and blue combination with a lovely turquoise ribbon. The liquid caramel in the blue hearts was a little challenging so I’m glad this is over. I’ll be on pins and needles until the end of the evening when everyone has enjoyed their chocolates.

    • Cynthia, How many chocolates did u make for this wedding with the liquid caramel?? Then you hand packaged and hand tied each one?

    • a little over 200 of each, caramel and passion fruit. Then I did 1 lb boxes of assorted chocolates for the mothers of bride and groom.

Next week’s wedding is 300 passion fruit and 300 dark chocolate caramels packaged in a similar way. And, yes, I do it all myself.

Thank you Laurie, for your thoughts!!!

    • Cynthia I can’t imagine the hours it took to box all the chocolates, I worked part time for a wedding decorator and it took us days to get all the linens ready and a small crew to make the magic happen. Your creations are amazing, hopefully you can find something to meet your needs.

By chance is there a ‘new business district‘? In Chattanooga there was an area that new business went into and got help with all aspects of their business. I believe they paid minimal rent while getting this help since Chattanooga wanted the business to succeed.

    • This too is part of his big plan. Change is not always easy and at times answers don’t seem to come quick enough but it really isn’t faith until it is stretched and we learn to rest in Him. He hears you when you call. The word for the day is REST and know that he is God. Love & prayers.
