Hi Ladies!

I am having such a tough time losing weight! Since I have retired from my job. My weight has ballooned. I am very active at home but, that just doesn’t seem enough. It is so hard to cook low cal. meals! I was not raised that way! I am an ‘old school’ gal. When I cook low cal. meals, I get the look of disapproval from the rest of the family.

    • Well first off...... Welcome to Fab40 and cingrats on being retired!!!!

I can be sarcastic so please don’t be offended....

Any disapproving looks my family should dare to send my way usually ends up with me telling them to cook their own meals.
I’m only guessing but since you are retired your kids cant be super young.... tell them they are free to cook, buy, prepare their own meals.
Or you could take the high road and explain the health benefits of your new style of cooking or would they rather you die....
Or you could find lower calorie versions of what you typically cook and ease them into a more healthful way of eating.

I’m pretty sure you will get tons of advice from the ladies on here. So Good Luck!

    • You could ask your family if they would be willing to help mom out and either cook their own dinner while you make something light for yourself or you could cook the light version of everything and they can have sauces, seasonings, gravies, whatever they like on the side. If there was a health issue I bet the family would do what they can to help their mom take better care of herself. Sometimes with the only reason is to lose weight, our spouses and kids don’t take it seriously.

      Good luck with everything.

    • Thanks Ladies for you advice. I have a husband and an 89 year  old mother that I am taking care of. Of course my mom was a fantastic cook and my husband cooks great also. It is hard for me to change the way I cook. I feel lost trying to cook healthy. It is so bland compared to the way I am accustomed to cooking. We all just sit around the table with that dreaded look. I am hispanic and we cook with a lot of spices, starch, and fat.

    • Well you can still use a lot of spices I’m sure. But since I’m not the best cook I would suggest checking in with fellow Fabber Carine

Good Luck and let us know what you got going on.
