Thanks to Ingrid I was compelled to do some research.
First off, what is Botox? “Botox is a natural purified protein,” the ad helpfully answers in the large-print section. “Botox is derived from a bacteria, in much the same way penicillin is derived from mold.”
Well, that’s reassuring. I mean, penicillin—that’s a good thing, right?
It’s not until you delve into the fine print that you learn Botox, otherwise known as botulinum toxin type A, a purified form of a* deadly poison* , “contains albumin, a derivative of human blood.”
The small-print text adds that because of "effective donor screening and product manufacturing processes," there's only "an extremely remote" chance that Botox users will be the recipients of blood-borne viral diseases.
Hmmm. That’s the kind of thing potential customers might have wanted to know a bit more clearly.

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is the most toxic protein known. Despite this, it is used in minute doses, in some parts of the world, both to treat muscle spasms and as a cosmetic treatment . It is sold commercially under the brand names Botox, Dysport, and Myobloc for these purposes. The terms Botox, Dysport, and Myobloc are trade names and are not used generically to describe the neurotoxins produced by C. botulinum.

I don’t know, but unless Jesus is dispensing it, I ain’t getting in line!
Being in a city I’m surrounded by women of all ages using it and quite frankly that has put me off not the fact it’s a poison - some days I’m on the Tube to work and I look across and it’s like a row of identikit women with the same “frozen face and big thick rubber lips” ......
It’s about £550 every three months and the trouble is once you start you can’t stop ... so you do more and more my friend has gone from looking like a head turning blonde to Barbie ..... she is a freak not quite Jocelyn Wildenstein but if she wasn’t told by her mates she would carry on unchecked

Jacquie6363 that lady is not my friend and if any of my friends looked like they were over stepping the mark like that ....... I would first give them a good bitch slap second blow up pictures of her and point out the rocky road to plastic hell ......and make sure the whole gang of friends were with me ...... I would put my mates in best mate rehab if they started that .....

They also use Botox for cerebral palsy - yup, and the side effects of that aren't cosmetic! Poor kids!
