I’m going to pick your brain today..I know it is Monday but wait till you read this.
Yesterday, I was standing in line in the market and happened to glance upon an issue of Philadelphia Magazine. On the cover it featured a cell phone with the heading..“Baby Boomers Should Die“, Let The Gen X and Gen Y Take Over..XOXO”
Well, needless to say I almost ripped all those magazines off the shelf..who the F*** does that writer think he or she is? I did not pick up the magazine as I would have hurled it across the aisle.
In this day and age, with many Gen X and Gen Y (all this mumbo jumbo terminology pisses me off) coming out of college and being out of college for a while, and not being able to get jobs is a tragedy. Many of us Baby Boomers are helping our kids to get by, giving them a place to live, food to eat, financial help, so for this idiot writer to attack us older and more experienced group is heinous.
If anybody is to blame, then put the blame on our government, the so-called “protectors of our nation“..HA..what a joke! I also read an article recently that mentioned how the Younger Generation will be supporting us when we are older, how???..there may not be enough money in most people’s cookie jar for any of us to survive. I may sound like a babbling fool right now, but to me this is not only a slap in the face to all of us middle aged, middle class folks who have been carrying the load for a long time, but to condemn us to die, is just not something I take lightly.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks for the article, Annie..I still resent that person’s point of view and wonder to myself if that is also directed towards her parents.
No bashing, just elevating our view of the younger generation, is how I took it. I found the article interesting, but not totally accurate. More than skyline changes came about during “the reign” of the baby boomers. ;oD
When I get the divorce settlement, I am moving to another small town, but it’s not far from an actual city. I hear they have a TJMAXX and a Home Depot. I’m excited!

I guess the part that affected me was “Baby Boomers Should Die Off“, o.k., I understand how the younger generation is making a difference and maybe they are a bit miffed..but really, to put it in that context is a bit rough.
Yes, Annie, and I am involved in one of those volunteer organizations, Meadowbrook Farm...maybe the writer needs to get her facts straight.
Thanks Angela, our group is not attacking the younger set, what kind of controversy would that cause I wonder.
