After 8 hours in the car with one of the most cranky people in our back seat (this person was the winner in the informal poll taken by everyone at the surprise party we went to this weekend-total votes 90 out of 90)we came home late, hungry and thankful that our future daughter-in-law made us a pasta dish that we only needed to re-heat.

Have I mentioned that our future daughter-in-law is a wonderful woman lately?

While we enjoyed seeing our cousins, 2 of whom were in our wedding party, and several other relatives, it was a arduous weekend which included a total of over 16 hours of driving due to the bumper to bumper traffic.

We came home and emptied out the master bath for demoltion the next morning.  We are tired, sore and have residual headaches from the unfortunate extra person in our back seat.

Then came this morning-I found as I was trying to put together my husband’s lunch and breakfast that my cupboards were fairly “bare“.

Yes, I have 3 peaches, carrots, celery and some fresh baby lettuces but I really need to leave you all early and get to the market.

That just isn’t going to happen-remember I’ve got 2 people destroying a room about 20 feet from my computer, 2 cats that are not in the happiest of moods and an old dog that needs a shot and 2 articles in desparate need of writing.

So this week is dedicated to “and she looked and her cupboard was bare!”  Poor Mother Hubbard?  I think not.

Friday-we’ll discus how I made it through the week!

    • It didnt occur to me that the person in the back seat was the MIL-
Thats sad that your drive was so miserable- I cant imagine driving 16 hours with my mom.
Maybe thats the unknown reason that long car rides put me to sleep- so that I dont have to hear.  LOL

    • actually-she was 91-no one was speaking to her really.  LOL
We did have a wonderful time w/ dh’s cousins-who double as our best friends though.

MIL is so hopelessly narcissitic that she either complained that “so in so needs some serious meds”  or thought the others were “joking with me about how difficult I am”

and yes, sleep is a good way out-dh told her outright “this is a good time for you to go to sleep and get some rest”

      LOL

    • thank you for the invitation!  I’m a SoCal girl from birth, but I’ve always wanted to visit you beautiful state.  Love music and the laid back lifestyle-maybe someday.

I like to think I’m a good MIL-I zip my lip and listen.

In fact-I’ve been taking copious mental notes since watching my mother’s mil on all the things mils should never do and then I’m thinking of writing a book!
