pic     It’s often hard to tell which companies do animal testing, and which don’t. You can always go to the PETA site, but it’s hard to come away from there feeling good about the world.

Without going into detail, trust me when I say that animal testing goes on a lot, all over the world, it’s horrible for the animals, and they use a lot of rabbits and other larger animals, in addition to the regular lab rats (who also feel pain).

The upside of this is that more and more companies are choosing not to use animal testing, and because of consumer demand, more companies are springing up that don’t even use animal by-products!

An example is BareMinerals  by Bare Escentuals. I haven't researched their new products (they have some new mascaras on the market), but their basic products are free of any animal cruelty. (Except their basic foundation brush - that's made of animal hair.)

Two makeup companies that many of the Fab40 ladies sell - that practice kindness to animals - are Avon and Arbonne . Arbonne is also vegan.

For the budget minded, e.l.f. is an animal-friendly company, as is Lumene . I think Lumene is available at CVS Pharmacies. Pixi , available at Target, is non-animal tested.

There are plenty of bunny-loving companies at Sephora. Hourglass (which is also vegan), Kat von D , Paula Dorf , and of course Smashbox and Urban Decay . Sephora claims their cosmetics are non-animal tested as well.

Moving up to the department stores, you're good to go with MAC (except for some of their brushes, although they do have some vegan brushes - you just have to be careful when buying MAC brushes), Bobbi Brown , Laura Mercier , and even Chanel !

You can check out your own cosmetics on my site at [Link Removed] -  which I try to keep up to date. I've got over 350 makeup companies on my list, so - that's a lot of people who do care about the well-being of the bunnies.
