Now, I know this might not sit well with some, but I have

to tell you this is the truth of where I am with buildings

and pews and amens and churches.

I was, for so long, a Catholic: staunch, devout, everyday

church goer.  This was how I was brought up .. and woe

be you if you decided to leave after having been

baptized, confirmed and the whole nine yards.

I have come to a point in my faith journey that I need to

step outside the box that I was put into as a child. I need

to choose for myself how I want to respond to God and His

Son and all the Holy Ones in Heaven.

For so long  I had been told “only Catholics will be in

Heaven“; If you leave you are  “going to HeJJ”

.

I use to think that Priests were like God and nuns were

angels without feet ; boy was I surprised to see nuns had

feet and everything else human!

Anyway, I watched how some people were denied Communion and

even some of my family had to leave right before Communion.

That is fine if this was followed through for everyone; but

as we know, there have been many many priests and perhaps

nuns who have done very bad things. .If they were people

like you and me, they would have been kicked outside the

Church, denied Holy Communion and condemned to the eternal

Fire of HeJJ.

Well since they were priests, whenever it come to

attention of the powers that be that there were scandolous

reports, such people: priests and nuns, were reassigned,

moved, disappeared from the place of scandal.

They were not kicked outside of Church or were they denied

Holy Communion but moved provided counseling and continued

The ministry.

For me, it’s hard to understand why little folks: the laity,

if they divorce or remarry etc. They are denied the

Sacraments, while those who lead: if they commit acts

against children or other members of the Church they

continue on in the Church..

Furthermore.. of recent.. I gave 11 years to a particular

Church: cleaned, played the organ, taught the children,

and whatever else had to be done.

I went away to the place of horror .. another state for

short while, then returned.  Had anyone from the Church

where I gave so much time and devotion ever saught me out

to ask if they could help me ? I worked free for so many

years. They send cards to the sick.

Has anyone come by to see if I needed foood? NO.

But,rather, those who came to my aid and with whom am now

so impressed, were not of my faith.. They gave me food,

a place to stay, a way around town. I never asked them

for help . .they did it because they said “it’s what

Jesus would do” .

I had called for help when I was in NJ and the pastor

Of my church’s response was “you got  yourself into that

mess, get yourself out“. This coming from the Church

leader where I never took a penny for 11 years.

I confronted him when I made it back to WV and told him

how disedified I was by his response. .We had heard day

after day about the Good Shepherd who goes after the lost

Sheep.  His response he wanted me to stand on my own..

I was in a bad way in NJ. being terrorized daily. I would

never had called for help had I not needed it. I am that

kind of person.

Anyway.. this is where I am. I am at a crossroads in my

faith journey. I don’t  know what I call myself in the

denomination department, but I do love God and believe in

Angels and that there are good holy people above.

I refuse to believe only Catholics go to Heaven ..since

it wasn’t any of them who even sought out this lost lamb,

but rather members of another faith..Surely Heaven is

big enough for all people.

Now, I am sorry if anyone is upset that I share this

but I truly believe that Heaven is much bigger then the

Heaven I learned about as a child; and it’s not

enough to say you believe in God or just enough to

read the Holy Bible .

When it is all said and done.. there has to be some

evidence of what you believe in .. not just lip-service.

    • Eva: thanks for your comments..I know for certain that

That Heaven is where God is and God is where love is as

we learned “God is love, and he who abides in love,

abides in God and God in Him”

I am just sorting through lots at this point in my life

      Have a nice evening;)

    • Hi Joy,

I was raised CAtholic as well but now attend a Methodist church.  I went to a Catholic school until I graduated from high school and I also believe that heaven is not open to only Catholics but to all denominations.

I’m sorry to hear that your former pastor was not more supportive and more helpful when you needed help.

    • Thanks Diane: I really needed the help.. and it hurt me since I had done so much for free .. was always the one that did all the xtra services etc.

I have thought about the methodist faith.too..I am simply in my limbo right now. .I am talking to God in the best way I can right now.

    • Joy,

As I read your encounter my heart cries out for you. I know that God loves you and He never wanted anything like this to happen.

In Ezekiel 34: 1-12 God speaks out against these so called shepherds. In verse 4 He says about them, "The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them.

So trust me when I say that God heard and saw what happened and He has made note.

But sweetie, He has a promise in this for you as well...

In verses 11 & 12 He says this: “For thus says the Lord God, “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep so will I seek out My sheep, and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.”

God Himself is now looking for you; searching. And His promise is that He will find you and deliver you. I would encourage you to not give up. I know for a fact that He is good about finding us - His little ones. :) He found me!

If you ever want to talk or ask a question privately please know that I am here. Just send me a message. In the meantime I am praying for you and seeking God for His hand in your life.

      Much Love,
      Rikki
