I would like to thank everyone who showed their patriotism and support for AVON and the USO in "Show the Troops You Care".  I was able to order 19 USO2GO Kits to be sent to our Troops.  Proceeds also helped the USO in maintaining much needed and appreciated programs for our Troops.

Although, for some, times are tough.   Our Freedom is so special and something that most are thankful for.  I received the following in an email during the Memorial Day Holiday, 2009, and I believe is so true:

“JUST A REMINDER AS TO WHO IS TO THANK FOR OUR FREEDOMS: GOD AND THOSE WHO GIVE ALL THEY CAN GIVE............TAKE A MOMENT TO REFLECT AND REMEMBER THEM.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag,

It is the VETERAN, who serves under the Flag,

God Bless them all!!!

Makes you proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!”

In promoting this fundraiser, I have heard wonderful stories.  It was great to hear these stories.  I did hear sad stories as well.  Families who have lost loved ones who served Our Country.  These families were eager show their support for our Troops.  Not everyone that I contacted participated in the AVON/USO Fundraiser, be most everyone who I spoke with told me of other ways they have shown the Troops they cared.  Some pray for our troops; some belong to parishes where their members sent bandanas with bible verses on them.  Stories about these bandanas came back as to how they helped various soldiers in life/death situations; some send phone cards to soldiers so they can reach their families; some joined support groups to help other families with members in the military, and the list went on.

If you support our Troops in other ways, I would love to hear from you.  Please share with everyone how you show your patriotism and support for our Troops in the comment section.

We are very lucky to be able to make choices in whether we want to support our Troops and how we support our Troops - because we have the FREEDOM.
