Often people try to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you really want.

    • Agreed Lisa. I find myself sometimes thinking about what I gave up to have the life I have. Would I be happier with all the ‘things’ that are outward indicators of material success? Not unless I still had the things that make me happy now - my husband, my children, my relationship with the Lord, my animals, my health (a biggie for me) and my simple life in the country. Would I go back to the city and give it all up so I could have a Porche and a house situated on a miniscule piece of property next to the Jones that I was trying to keep up with? NO WAY! If I were still with the job I gave up 5 years ago, I’d be making six figures, and we’d fall into the category called “rich” by the politicians. I am very rich indeed, but not because of the corporate ladder I have climbed or the fancy car I drive. But that’s just me.. I like the peaceful of the country, the sweet smell of horse breath, and the yummy taste of fresh goat milk. Maybe my name should be Heidi? LOL
And with that, I am signing off for the day so I can focus on schooling the children.
