Grumpy Girl was born in the summer of 1970 in Detroit, when gas was cheap, food was fattening and the Motown Sound was top of the pops.

Always my alter ego, as well as a major influence in my life, she quickly became a controlling factor of my business during the winter of 2005 as I planned what was soon to become Grumpy Girl Candle & Bath Co. , a place to showcase my love of candles, soap and fine fragrances while doing what no other company had ever done up to that point, mix a sassy attitude and a little bit of sarcasm with the ability to keep it real and fun. The final decision was made, and Grumpy was let loose to skip freely along the slippery path of soap and candle making and so began the journey. With an intent focus on the highest quality products remaining first and foremost, Grumpy Girl is a mad scientist of unique formulations. The product names are as diverse as the scents she uses, and are unsurpassed in quality and appeal. A fun attitude, risqué mentality, and sarcastic style quickly gained her a reputation among her peers, and to her customers the unsurpassed quality and down to earth manner set her up as a small market leader in the cottage industry.
