About me

48 year old who is an advocate of empowerment for women, a singer, a speaker, a photographer, a writer, a ballet dancer, a mother, a wife, a mother figure, a grandmother, an abuse survivor, post menopausal, an entrepreneur, a web designer, a model, and a perpetual student of life. Did I forget anything? I’m in the Renaissance of my life.

-Smileywoman represents my sunny disposition, and my love for smileys.

-Graduated (at 44) with honors degree in Psychology (minor business).

-Own two businesses and provide admin. to my husband’s company.

-True love at 37.

-husband = best friend and nurtures my dreams of artistic expression.

-Between us (7 grown kids, and 8 grand kids).

Adult Ballet Dancer –

The challenges of an older adult dancer are typical (strength, flexibility etc.) which older dancers have to work harder to achieve and maintain. Additionally, I have a balance disorder due to damage to a cranial nerve to the inner ear (making centre work a bit challenge, and turns not so pretty anymore). I’ve also developed neuromas (benign tumors) from my years as a runner, but they bother me in my aerobic activities, not in ballet. I’m a member of an international dance site “Dance.net” (DDN) where I am a mother figure and friend to many, many people. Dance.net is a wonderful outlet as well as a support system for dancers and other performing artists of all ages, disciplines, and levels. KUDOS to DDN for being an avenue for so many lovers of the arts!

Mottos:  1) dance because you LOVE it and don’t let the lack of support deter you. 2) Age is JUST a number…So DANCE!, and 3) Passion to dance, regardless of age.

    • Im so sorry to hear the adultery that forever changed your life.  I too have gone through it and my children.  Most people do not realize how a wrong like adultery can forever effect children, family, spouses and the community.

But it does forever change.  The only blessing is that there is life after divorce and we can turn a new chapter in our long book of life.

I admire you, your a survivor and tough.  Hang in OK.

    • I admire your passion for dance! I have several friends, over 40, who have been involved in an adult ballet program for years. One girl even got her husband to join! They talked me into it a couple of years ago and after a nasty leg injury follwing an attempt at the splits I decided it wasn’t for me but I applaud those ladies and I applaud you!

    • You are not going to believe this—so please check my background before you do anything—I would like to have you as a friend. If you haven’t deleted this yet, I’d like to thank you for the wonderful pictures of Virginia (jeez, I grew up there!) and your inspiring honesty. I may be the only man on this wonderful site—I don’t really know. But I do appreciate your ‘youness‘. Oh, I left Virginia more than 34 years ago and now consider myself an Oregonian but still have friends and family in Virginia.

Hell, I think you could easily sell me some of your photos—the critters, especially—you rock!

      Mark
