About me

I am usually happy. I’m positive things will always work out the way they are suppose to even when it isn’t always pleasant. I am always optimistic and know that tomorrow will come and things do get better when you keep moving forward. I live with fibromyalgia, but I don’t let it define me. I try very hard to overcome the pain and work past it. I have a great support group. My family is wonderful and loving. Even though I complain about them, they are great! We have a huge extended family, so we do have a lot of situations that come up…we have had to learn to work out problems. When there is a problem we always come together and work things out to make the situation better for everyone. On the upside of that, when there is a celebration, we all gather together and have a great time celebrating weddings, births and generally any event that takes place in this crazy, wacky family! I feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family.

Hi Stephanie & Rachel! Thanks for asking about the book signing! I’ll do a blog, but here is a quick response! It was really fun!!! I had a great time and once I got started the nerves went away!! I felt like I was in a classroom again! I’ll write a blog about the experience in more detail. The customer service relations manager at Barnes & Noble said that it was one of the more successful book signings he has seen! I sold over 20 books! My goal was to sell more than 8…so not to bad! Take care. ~~ Dana

I’m checking in, too—how did that first reading/signing go? How thrilling! I’d love to put the Byron Katie book on the list to read, but I have a bit of a stack going. I will let you know when I’m reading it. Love to share responses. Maybe we can drum up some others to read, too. Meanwhile, sending you support and good canyon vibes for your readings! Thanks for your wall post.
    Best,
    Rachel

Hey Dana, Congrats on your book! I look forward to checking it out. While you‘re reading this, check out my site www.pcmccullough.com and learn about my novel Perfect. It’s a great women’s fiction read and has been a good seller on my site. Would love to hear about your marketing and promotion plans too.

Hi Dana! Wow! Your niece is a SUPER HERO! I am so sorry to hear about the terrible car accident that she and her friend were in, but I am happy to hear that both girls are alive & recovering! I recommend that your niece look into the resources and services provided by the Phoenix Society For Burn Survivors. It is a wonderful, non-profit business for burn survivors and their families. I was trained with this business to provide camouflage makeup artistry for burn survivors and to provide social skills to help burn survivors re-enter the work force, school and society following a tragic accident. Please inform your niece and her family that once her legs and skin are healed, there are camouflage products to help conceal the scars on her legs. It is waterproof so she could even go swimming with the camouflage makeup on her body. She is very young, I am assuming, so this burn injury will affect her self-esteem. It is my passion to reach out and help those individuals find a new identity, beginning with the INSIDE OUT. If there is anything that I could do to help your niece, please feel free to contact me here. If you want my home email address, just let me know! I am praying for God to totally heal your niece’s injuries. May God comfort and strengthen her, I pray.

    God Bless,
    Dana

Hi, I am a new published author of children’s books in the Phoenix, Arizona area. My first book is called “Jeremiah, the Dragon Persuader“_ and is available on my publisher’s website www.tatepublishing.com. If you would like to have it personalized or signed by me you could go to my own website www.jeremiahandsmokey.com and find out more about the book and myself! I am looking forward to exploring this website and finding out about other women and their stories! Isn’t it great to finally wake up and really live! Best of luck to all of you out there discovering what it is like to finally come into your own and having the courage to finally step up and be heard! Dana

I think I already mentioned this…mysteries. I love them all. I also am reading two self-help books. “When You and Your Mother Can’t Be Friends” by Victoria Secunda and “Loving What Is” by Byron Katie (I’m really liking this one!) My sister-in-law just gave me Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert…haven’t had a chance to pick it up to read it…but will let you know what I think.

    • Favorite Music

I like most music, but right now I am really into Country. I like to go back to the 70–80’s rock and find it very sad to hear it on the oldies station! My favorite all time artist is Martina McBride!! I love to listen to her music and sing it out loud! One trip coming home from Mexico, we had nothing else to listen to and the radio was out. My son Jeremy said, “I guess you like that CD, you know every word of every song…” not sure that it was a compliment either. I also like to listen to Clay Walker. His voice is so unique and he is not a very popular country artist. My husband and I often joke that we would like to invite him to play at our son’s wedding (if he ever finds the right woman)!!

    • Interests

My favorite thing to do is read. I love to pick up a great mystery. I love to read it at the beach. My favorite beach is Coronado Island off San Diego, CA. Mostly we head down to Mexico, because it is four hours away from Arizona. I also love to spend time cooking for my family of three, and just hanging out with friends. The most important things in the world to me are my son and my husband, oh and my two dogs, Teddi Bear and Hemi.
