About me

Originally born in England, I came to the US in 1988. I trained and worked as an elementary school teacher until my daughters were born, then stayed home to look after them for many years. In 2004, when I was newly divorced, I decided it was my time to go to graduate school. I took many art history classes and a concentration in graphic design, and had a wonderful time. When I graduated it was disappointing to find that the business world wasn't very interested in hiring a 50 year old junior graphic designer, so am now developing my own freelance graphic design business, and also pursuing my passion for book making and writing. I am currently blogging about re-finding myself in midlife, and how writing has helped me on my site.

    My tastes are varied, and as a singer particularly like Sade, Nina Simone, Susan Graham and Emma Kirkby. I like the choral music classics and also modern composers such as Morten Lauridsen.
