I am a truck driver by trade. Over 30 years in the industry. Recently retired.
Married to a wonderful husband for 13 years. I currently operate a 501©(3) nonprofit rescue awareness program. And we foster rescue dogs until they can find their own family.
We own two 18-wheelers that we lease to the oil field industry. We have a driver one truck, and my hubby drives the other one.
I retired orginally in 2003 after the doctors refused to release me to go back to driving. They did not want me driving because it put too much stress on my body. I had developed some major health issue, and had to have a complete hysterectomy and was under going treatment.
We had a driver in my truck and he was doing pretty good. Then in Feb. of 2007 they called him to do a random drug screen, he refused and they fired him. I had to start driving again until we could find another driver. We just found a new driver in Nov. 2009.
I can now concentrate on the animals that we have in our foster care program. Training, vetting and getting them ready for their new families.
We have 16 rescued dogs currnetly in our family, and 2 more that we are boarding for a family that lost everything in Ike. Our volunteer foster homes currently house 40 more dogs and 23 cats.
We rescued them from the side of the highways and various locations that they were dumped. They are safe now and we will fostering them until they each find thier own loving family to care for them.
Since 1997, we have rescued and fostered 500+ animals.
We promised them they would never be abandoned or abused again. So as we look for their fur-ever homes, they know they will always have a home here. They have four acres, completely fenced in to romp and play on. They are never caged, have their own beds and play toys.
Everybody jokes that they wish they could be a dog in this family (me too). We work hard to keep them in food and vet care. God is faithful to supply their needs as we stay faithful to our commitment.
