I have been married forever. I have four great kids. I live life to the fullest. I enjoy hanging out with caring people.
going to lunch and buying a pair of shoes, now you‘re speaking my language!
So, did the house get finished? Are you ready for your mom to move in?
I think I’m going to go for the Electrolux oven first with the KitchenAid as second choice. When the 3 day weekend is over, my husband’s buildings and grounds manager will come over and measure the space and then order the oven. It will take a month or so to get it, but I should have it before the holidays.
Have a great evening

leeann,
nope haven’t written a cookbook. My daughter and I started one, but w/ working at a day job fulltime and free-lancing the rest of the time, something winds up getting put on the back burner (forgive the pun).
As for your meatloaf-you‘re probably over working it. It’s a bit like muffins in this respect-if you overmix a muffin or quick bread batter-it gets tough. same w/ meatloaf, be gentle and only mix until it’s just mixed, then leave it alone.
As for tasty meals, don’t be afraid to experiment! the very worst that happens is that everyone says “ew, don’t make this again“. At least you’ve learned what you don’t like.
Start with trying at least one new food a week. I decided I was tired of my evening carbs being pasta, brown rice and potatoes. So I started trying quinoa (a hit), kashi (so so), barley, millet (I got a definite no on this one), different recipes for polenta. Some were hits, others were greeted with moans and groans.
Same with veggies-break out of the mold! Get the family involved-ask them to google a veggie, a grain, a fruit and make something new! Or try an odd combination. Apples and carrots baked in orange juice with a crumb topping. Sweet potatoes baked with chipolte and brown sugar.
Let me know if this was the track you were thinking of!

I’m laughing about the shoe box comment! That’s funny.
Oven shopping was good. I’m between the KitchenAid and the Electrolux. I thought Electrolux only made vacuum cleaners! But apparently their other appliances are just as sturdy so I may go in that direction since the oven will be here long after we retire and move no doubt.
Clothing shopping wasn’t nearly as much fun. I just hate this middle aged midsection. Don’t even know what size I am anymore. Gad, I’m becomming my mother!
Hope you are able to get some swim time with your son.

Hi Leann
We love when it rains. I live in an area that actually gets quite a bit of light rain which keeps me from having to water the yard.
Today I’m going downtown to shop for a new oven. Mine is really acting up. Our house is owned by my husband’s school. Part of the obligation with living here is we do a lot of entertaining. The last gathering we had at the house, I complained that my oven doesn’t heat evenly and one of the knobs are broken – I have to use a pair of pliers to turn it on and off. So today I get to pick out a new oven! I’m excited.
I used to have a website. Lately I’ve been selling my chocolates locally but lots of them get sent to the Mainland. I ship for my customers so they don’t have to go through the bother. I include a gift card from the sender. This generates a lot of business for me over the holidays when everyone is so busy. So, answer your question, yes I ship all over the place. On the website, I’ve decided to go with Typepad for a business blog and include a paypal account. I should have that operational within a month. My selling policy is pretty relaxed but my products go out of here in pretty boxes, shrink wrapped with a nice bow to finish it. I also use very high quality chocolate and finish my pieces with jewel toned luster and sometimes even edible gold. My chocolates are like my babies, I’m very proud of them. I’ll keep you posted if you’d like. Thank you for asking!
Ok, I’m off to go downtown before it gets crowded!
Take care
Cynthia
leeann, I kind of figured-I get “myself” confused all the time. I had to have another identity to be the food columnist and Yana likes the name of my personal blog site, so we both decided that was perfect to use.
We can work on this on either “name“.
You are lucky, your family should be a snap to come up with new things for!
Again, what would you like to do differently? Use different ingredients? different cuisines? change to healthier versions of the same foods?
leeann, this doesn’t sound too hard at all! Do you have any cuisine that you like in particular? Any food you’d like to try or want a different take on?
What are you trying to change-other than cooking more often?
leeann, I’d love to help! Do you need recipe ideas, do you or your mom have a certain allergy or restriction that you need to address? Let’s try and hone in on what kind of encouragement you want and go from there!
Hi Leeann,
I’m doing good, thanks, especially because the kids are all back in school as of today. :) Thanks for the tip on having a good marriage, that is an important one. How old are your children?

I played golf on Friday and played absolutely horrible. Then today I redeemed myself. I try and play once or twice a week. If I can only play once I try to get to the driving range one day. My drives are good, straight and pretty long but my fairway shots leave a little to be desired. My 3 wood is my nemesis!
Thanks for asking!

The day is going well. Say, I’ve been to Texas a couple of times, San Antonio and Austin, and I really liked it. I have a nephew in McKinney.
The weather today is pretty. It’s been raining at night a lot so everything is green. Usually by this time of summer the grass looks dead and my plants suffer.
One of the teachers at my husband’s school is a pal of mine. She gets out early today so we‘re going to head over to the golf course up here and play a round. We‘re lousy but we laugh a lot and have fun.
Hope the house fares well today with all the work being done.
