  • Hobbies & Interests

  • Favorite Activities

Discovering and preparing tasty - even gourmet - recipes that won’t skyrocket either one’s cholesterol or blood sugar levels.
Attending concerts, theatre and museums with my sweetheart, Ken. (He is also my husband, and no we are not newlyweds! He’s just a great guy!) Member of a book discussion group, gourmet couples group, art tour member, subscriber to two concert series.

  • Favorite Books

So many that I absolutely loved! Try these for starters!
The Silent Duchess by Dacia Maraini
    July's People by Nadine Gordimer
    White Teeth by Zadie Smith
Love in the Time of Cholera by Garcia Marquez
    Atonement by Ian McEwan
Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
The Human Stain by Philip Roth
    Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
The Bookseller of Kabul by Anne Seierstad
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The Piano Tuner by Daniel Mason
    March by Geraldine Brooks
Nine Parts of Desire by Geraldine Brooks
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

  • Favorite Music

My taste in music is pretty eclectic, ranging from classical to gospel, show tunes, country and more. But when I’m on my treadmill, I look for fast tempo, rhythmic disco music to keep me moving!

  • Interests

Travel, tennis, reading and discussing great books with my book group friends; preparing yummy, mouth watering dinners and then dining with the members of our gourmet club; doing research for writing assignments; socializing with friends, attending cultural events

I’m a people person! I love meeting people, talking with them, really getting to know them below the surface. I’m also a writer who spends hours each day in solitary confinement before the computer screen. Seems like polar opposites, doesn’t it? But it works for me because whenever possible, I selectively interview and include that material in my books and articles. Journalistic writing in this style brings me so much joy that I am convinced this is exactly what I was destined to do at this phase of my life.
